I'm basing my opinion mostly on the Argentina game and yesterday, both were they played great counter attacking football, and in general were superb to watch. The only other game I saw of theirs was versus Belgium, in which they weren't so brilliant due to the quality of the opposition and how tough the game was, but i'd hardly call them turgid.

Have to agree somewhat but the style of play is the juventus that was managed by Lippi and it makes sense as that was who was probably most influential in Dechamps playing career. Juve were very strong during that period with zidanne...biggest rivals in that late 90s period was inter milan. Now imagine if they had signed Brazils Ronaldo in that period along with already having Del Piero ? - you have what is probably the France team just replace Ronaldo/Del Piero with Mbappe and Griezmann. Same style same defensive doggedness of the Italian variety.
