My hopes for the Rest of the Season

This season is essentially over, bar our fight for 4th place and runs in the FA Cup & Europa Cup. I don't remember if I've ever been this upset about Liverpool - not even during Ged's last season - but I think a few things can happen in this season that will hopefully leave us looking back at this 'blip' as the low point before a long and dominating run next year ...

Here's what I think needs to happen throughout the rest of this depressing season:

1) We need to, and this is a must, finish 4th. We belong in the Champions League and the revenue is probably key to what our owners want to do next year.

2) Sign Mascherano to a contract extension. I know he has many detractors on this site, "We can get another great defensive midfielder," but the fact is, he's a phenomenal player and if he WANTS to stay, we need to get this extension done and dusted. Just like replacing Alonso seems to be impossible, we don't need to go down this path with Mascherano (unless it's really due to family issues).

3) I'm slightly worried about Magic's defensive abilities as a RB ... I'm actually curious to see how he'll do in Dirk's RW position. That needs to be tried considering how poor Dirk has been for the past 2-3 months.

4) Give Kelly a chance to prove himself at RB. In an important game against Lyon, he held his own very well.

5) Give Pacheco a few more games to get his confidence up ... He's good enough and needs to be playing with the 1st team, not the reserves.

Next year, I do hope that players like Kuyt, Yossi and Lucas are not 'starters'. They're good, well besides Lucas, but they're limited and we can do better I think. But that's for the 'What to do in the Summer' thread that someone will probably start soon enough.

Too depressing to even talk about 1 and 2.

3) Yes, there might be shortcomings in Johnson's defensive game. Like there were in Ashley Cole's at an earlier point in his career. It shouldn't be something to worry about long term - with a more stable midfield and defence, Johnson should be a keeper at RB for years to come.

4) I would prefer it if we groomed him to be Carra's eventual replacement.

5) Agree wholeheartedly. Do the same with Nemeth.

Not to feel the following after a match;

De Ja Vu, Angry, Depressed, Numb, Tired, Offended, Bored, Morose, an amalgamation of all those things.

Some injuries to shit players, and none to the good ones

That should at least solve a couple of Benitez's fucking quandaries

x2

That we sign further players in January to provide impetus.

To gain a further 16 League points in order to avoid the relegation zone.

That Aquilani, Gerrard and Torres' fitness and form return sooner rather than later.

That goes without saying for any Liverpool fan. Can you imagine how unbearable life would become if the cunts won no. 19?

Indeed, but amazingly there are still some on here, including respected pillars of the forum, who would prefer the Mancs to beat Chelsea to the title, their reason being that Chelsea are johnny-come-lately chavs with a sod of a lot more money than class. That of course is true, but even so those posters are a lot more purist in their approach to the game than I am.

While understanding their thinking I don't go along with it so I guess I am no purist.
Sadly, our history is about all we have to feel good about right now and I don't want to see that superseeded easily.

Quite - none of us do. We'd still be a couple of Bigears ahead of them in Europe of course (and I don't think they'll overhaul that in a hurry, if at all) but like you I want us up and challenging for the domestic title again by the time they win their next one.

[/quote]yeah but as long as we finish at least 4th am not too fussed who wins tbh..

1. Cup Double
2. Top four finish
3. Double over the scum
4. Double over Everton
5. H&G to sell up and fuck off

No.1

Win the Fa Cup.

F*ck its been to long since had a trophy and I think the whole club needs it, especially the likes of Torres.

No.2

Get fourth.

No.3 Get Masher on a long term contract.

No.4 Get Reina on a long term contract.

No.5 Aquaman to flourish in the 2nd half of the season.

You know what LTW; I'm sick to fucking death of hearing your "Kuyt's been shit for 2-3 months" bollocks. Today is why Dirk plays all the time, and why your Israeli fuck-buddy gets benched for half the season.

One scores another goal against top drawer opposition when it counts, the other does two bits of fuck all.

I actually really really dont give a fuck tonight what the rest of the season brings. I am fucking sick of it all. Absolutely sick of it, uninterested, bored, tired and upset with it.
It appears that all fighting spirit and character has vanished from that team. As soon as the smallest thing happens in a game that is bad luck or unfortunate, then the heads drop and we look like quivering rape victims.
Anyone for tennis?

Kuyt was fucking shit again, he scored yaay but he still had a shit game. Yossi was also shit but LTW said Yossi needs to start on the bench in his post

Woah, Dirk scored his first goal from right wing in HOW LONG? Yes how long? To be honest, I'm sick to fucking death of supposed football 'geniuses' talking about impressive Kuyt is (most people on this site, except for you, acknowledge Kuyt has been off form the past 2-3 months). He's DONE SWEET FUCK ALL the past 3 months bar a tap in goal against Everton and what should have been a winner against the Gooners.

Le me repeat, I have no issues with Yossi being on the bench (where I think he belongs, and have said that for eons) but for someone who claims in another thread we need another Gerrard and Torres, surely you realize that means 'bye bye' Kuyt as a starter. I know you love Kuyt (and Lucas) and hate when people are after them but if we want to win the league, we need better than Yossi AND Kuyt in our first 11 ... What do I know though, all I do is fuck Yossi after his parents tuck him in ... he really does need to put on some weight.

One scores another goal against top drawer opposition when it counts, the other does two bits of fuck all.

You probably have missed a few of Yossi's goals while down under but check out last season when we were pushing for honors in the league and champions league - maybe you'll see Yossi's name pop up with a winner in the Bernabau or Craven Cottage in the 93rd minute. But those didn't count, they were obviously 'two bits of fuck all'.

Today is why Dirk plays all the time

I know, Today is also why Lucas plays all the time! 🙂

Ryan, Kuyt has been poor for the most part this season while Yossi has been good for the most part.

And Yossi is not a winger but continues to be played there.

He should be played in the hole and when he is he is excellant.

Well done to Kuyt for scoring today, but that doesn't hide the fact he has been very poor this season.
