Mourning Mascots

Very random topic, I know, but it's Monday... I find this phenomenon bizarre - who the heck thinks including a giant chicken, or a man dressed as a boiler, or some other ludicrous mascot, alongside players is a good idea for a minute's silence???? Please god Mighty Red is never used in such a way.
