I’ve got my breath back, had my chippy tea (special fried rice and a carton of curry) and now it’s time to open the thread. I’ll leave my murmurings to the post match thread.

Kelleher
Alexander-Arnold
Konate (Gomez 46’)
Van Dijk
Tsimikas
Gravenberch
Mac Allister (Jones 66’)
Szoboszlai (Diaz 66’)
Salah (Bradley 90’)
Nunez (Endo 77’)
Gakpo

I almost want to give it to Taa, who doesn't deserve it at all, but I thought he really got the crowd going with that scuffle at 50 odd and multiple one on ones after that. I thought that was a turning point. The ref made this into a bit of an old school game, there was some really ferocious tackling, and a welcome return to a Trent that actually seems to take his duel personally defending man on man. Passing was fucking shit though.

Gomez for me was easily best. Prime carragher out there. Blocks all over the fucking place.

Crowd was amazing. I think the way the game was reffed, with the whole context of other results really turned it up.

Gomez
Kelleher

1. Gomez - was excellent when he came on
2. Gakpo - liveliest of the front 3.
3. Tsimikas - solid performance - deserves a run of starts.

Gomez
Kelleher
Tsimikas

This. Gakpo did well again but for me that top three stood out.

BTW someone was saying on the radio the other day that AI had been asked to produce a Top Ten of the Prem's best-looking players and Gomez was on the list at no.7. Make of that what you will.

A fantastic 45 minutes from Gomez put the rest of the side to shame as he came out on top with 79 points, then Kelleher (45) and Tsimikas (33).

Time to lock the thread.
