Gonna give them the benefit of the doubt here, jet lag maybe? a couple of days to prepare, lots of enforced changes to the team.
We managed to mentality monster stomp our way to the final.

Rest for a few lads, maybe it comes at a decent time re the league cos it allows a few players to rest and recover..like Gini and VVD etc.

They didn't play well, but I'm pretty sure the Mexican team are more used to those sorts of conditions, and they've also been there a lot longer.

I don't think you could reasonably expect a top class performance

Was going to write something similar. It seems like a small detail, but it’s actually spine-tinglingly surreal to see a player who is thinking and acting AHEAD of what’s going to happen but hasn’t happened yet. It’s like he momentarily cracked the code of the Matrix.

I think he’s over thinking it. He just put in an area where he hoped Firmino would anticipate.

You are actually mad, no way did he just chuck it in there and hope Bobby would run onto it. It was a very very different pass to what 99 out of 100 players would have played there..he's ready to whip that in like he's done a trillion times but he ends up just sliding it in. It's amazing, the best passers of the ball like Xabi, Pirlo, Iniesta et al would have gushing if they played that pass.

This was a pin-point pass into an empty space, not a delivery into the “danger area.” A difficult pass too - he had to bend the ball to find a little opening between the defender and Salah.

I'm not sure hoped, as much as presumed, cos they play & train together so much, plus we know klopp (& guardiola for that matter) train players on where to move during situations under pressure over & over to take less of the guesswork out when they play in such a quick manner, but how they play the ball to get it there & the timing despite many opponents knowing the danger, is all down to how damn good the players are.

I was thinking the other day how lucky we are with TAA.

He’s become one of our most important players and is up there with the likes of Carra and Gerrard in terms of homegrown stars.

The drop in quality when he’s not playing is becoming increasingly noticeable.

I actually don’t think this has anything to do with training - you can tell which passes are “automatic” for our players. This was pure “in-the-moment” improvisation like the quick Origi corner.

Naah, he kinda just knocked that corner into the box..you know just hoping the wind might catch it and take it into the net

I agree with that, but I don’t believe he saw the run mid swing and changed his cross. He put it in there and assumed Firmino would make a dart to the near post. Still excellently executed.

I'm pretty sure we are more used to 18C and rain pre-match than they are 😀

Yep this is it. 2 little uns vs 4 big uns + Keeper in the area isn't a good % ball, but sliding it into space (even if it's a tiny space) just behind them, forces them to turn whereas Bobby can just continue his run, so is clearly the better % ball. Which no doubt they have practiced many times in training. Still an utterly fantastic ball that very few could have pulled off.

No idea if I'm whiffing but either way can someone link me to the clip of Robbo piping off to the sideline over the shithousery of the bleached hair prick rolling about on the floor

Terrible preformance by us. Origi, lallana, and thst fat swiss bloke might as well not bithered turning up they were that bad. Probably one of joe Gomez's worst games for us as well.
Saying that we always seem to pull it out of the bag but we should have been winning that game by a few goals instead of relying on Alisson to keep us in it

Gomez was very positive in possession and was far better than his makeshift partner.

Odd game to call one of his worst.

Ment defensively. Got caught ball watching a bit to much and could easily have gotten himself sent off. Henderson should have done more with the ball but he was a central midfielder playing CB for the first time without an experienced CB to guide him so gets to use his get out of jail free card despite his constant sideways passing

The other one was in their penalty box where Keita literally just put his arm out and touched someone and they threw themselves to the floor ! Shithousery of the highest order. If I were the ref I'd give them all a Yellow.

I did wonder where that unpleasant aroma originated from

WTF mate? Gomez had an excellent game .. even more so considering all the work he was doing to cover that bloke next to him who was frequently out of position. I thought that was a very professional Yellow 😉

Yeah , it was like playing an Italian /Spanish side in Europe of yesteryear at times , theatrics and gamesmanship ahoy

Even their coach was acting the cunt

It's likely we can expect the same from Flamengo.
