Money to burn

1 in 3 for an AM/winger is a decent return. Far less competition upfront this season so he will get more games and think he will do better again.

You just paid £30m for Firmino, if you get a better output return than that you will be doing very well.
Yeah because 37 million is the same as 30.
Creep.

£18m to £20m seriously?

You get very little for less than £20m in the current market.
I don't know whether you vastly under rate him or think far more players are available below £20m.

You paid £25m for lallana and £20m for Markovic just last season.

Kondogbia and Vidal moved for 25 and 28 mill respectively.
Its the fees paid by English clubs that are inflated. We paid at least 8-9 mill to much for Lallana.
Probably 5 mill to much for Markovic.

Herrera is a good player but thats a shitload of money. Atletic didnt want to sell so you had to pay the release clause. We've been doing that this season ourselves. Benteke is at least 8-9 mill to much.

You've got the likes of fucking Brady and Chester moving for 8 mill £. Its insane..

I'm not so sure. For one thing I don't remember him being rested that often last season, and for another we've yet to see how fit Pigclimber really is.

If you think most clubs are overpaying by £5m to £10m. Then i think it is more likely that you are undervaluing by £5m or £10m than the bulk of the clubs in this business are wrong.

Nah, I'm saying there is an English premium which effects and inflates fees.
The clubs that get relegated from the Premier league this season are set to earn about 100 mill during the year.
The winner of Ligue 1 gets about 28 mill.

I conveniently do not recall much of that season (it was the bleeding Hodgson year), but I'd say if they had the top scorer in the league, he'd have played a pretty significant role in their title win, no matter how weak the competition.

What they got back for him? I think they signed him when he was 27 and sold him at 31 for 5 million.

At that age, players rarely have any resale value. You have to have a different standard for judging signings in that age bracket - impact in terms of trophies rather than resale value. Take van Persie - they've just sold him for 3 million. But he'll still go down as a brilliant signing for that one great season. Willing to concede though that van Persie's impact in 12-13 was much greater than Berbatov's in 10-11.

Sorry I can't agree.

I think all signings have to be considered on the same basis - contribution compared to net outlay. £26m for one good season out of 4 is poor. RVP has a better case, seeing as he did almost certainly win them a title, but I'd still be so extreme as to consider him a poor signing too, on that basis.

I know it sounds a bit mad but when you start considering alternative uses of the cash it makes more sense.

If he isn't fit and playing well he will behind Schneiderlin and Herrera.
If he is playing at his best and fit he will probably play ahead of one of them.

Honestly. You *might* be a top bloke.
But who on an LFC forum gives a fucking shite where and when Schweinstiger will play?
United are a team full of bellends. It's well documented.
