Upping his game under dalglish ??

An other fine performance from the man

Great goal, great lay off for the torres goal..

Shelvey should of scored from another fine ball from the man

If we get Adam it may look like it will be Lucas he will be replacing in the starting 11..

All from the right too..

Arguably his best game in a Red Shirt...

Thought he was a bit of a shithouse last week but can't complain with 2 in 2 is ace, as was today's performance.

I agree really, but we'll have to work on that side of his game (or make damn sure there's enough venom around him in our midfield to make up for it).

Great signing by Roy.

No Budgie love in, in this thread thanks..

But yeh your right 😉 I suppose it would of been an utter travesty if all his signings where shite...

Great signing by Roy Pusssslow.

He certainly looks capable of being the new Xabi for us. We need the players arround him to move into spaces and he'll find them.

I said under Roy it was clear to see Meireless is a good footballer, he shafted him by playing him wide wide in a few games but i was always sure he'd come good, he showed enough signs of that.

Ran the game today, one f my favourite players already and he hasn't been here but a minute and through the worst spell in our history. Hope he's with us for a long time

Agreed. Credit where its due. With better midfield partners, he can only improve.

He's a very good footballer. And his best position is in the centre of midfield with a good defensive midfielder. I've maintained from the beginning that he can be the replacement we've been looking for Alonso. He's a different player but he performs a similar sort of function in keeping the team ticking. I'm pretty confident his best is yet to come.

Haha...signed by Roy but didn't know how to play him. Used him as a RM which he was ineffective. so yeah, it was roy's fault.

Even when we have been shite he has still played quite well...

He does pussy out of challenges.. but unlike some of the other players- When things get bad he doesnt shy away from receiving a pass. He runs all day and his intelligent running is a breath of fresh air. Its a Footballing trait that was non existant under Rafa.

He is a tidy passer with an Alonso like knack to dictate the tempo and demands the ball be played to his feet. Id be happy if he pussied out of a couple of tackles and remained fit for the entire season. We have limited creativity in the squad at the moment and his running makes things 20 times easier for the rest of the squad.

If we dont have Gerrard or Meireles in the starting 11 we are very one paced and boring.

So how would Charlie Adam come in eh? We still need a midfield shield.

Gerrard will be the anchor man in midfield..

Thats my theory anyway...

I love Meireles and was delighted when we signed him. People we're looking for things to whinge about. Shithouse first and then he couldn't shoot. Nothing wrong with his shooting at all, bar one game when he had a mare but that's it.

I think you lot are very harsh about him pulling out of tackles. He has been a bit fruity since he went off injured a few games ago but I think he's been conscious of protecting himself, perhaps overly so.

Well, he created the problem for himself. That said, without his signing, there wouldn't be his goal and performance today, yah? That's why credit where its due. Likewise for blame. 😉

That may well be the reason, and it's understandable to an extent, but it IS happening and he has to get beyond it. We can't have that in a midfield player, however excellent he is in other ways.

I don't think Gerrard has the discipline to perform that role. Plus he'd be well pissed off if asked to do it

He'd play anywhere if asked to do so.. Kenny can mould him for that role..

thats true, it'll cost the team and it pisses off the fans but I can remember him being fully involved in tackling and not pulling out of anything in the past

hopefully its a temporary thing

Gerrard BEHIND Adam and Meireles. That's positively retarded. He's without a shadow of doubt, amongst the top 5 attacking midfielders on the planet (alongwith Messi, Ronaldo, and Lampard). Playing him ANYWHERE other than the attacking third, unlesss your central midfielders are Lucas and Poulsen, is fucking criminal.

I dunno mate I think we'd be left badly exposed with him anchoring the midfield not ignoring the fact that he'd be wasted there.

Jon's idea of sticking him on the right would benefit us more.

He was great RB at the end of the 2005 CL final.
