Brighton on a free, as per Neil Jones.
Would really have rather he stayed - but it's clear he wanted to play more, so happy for him. However, hopefully he returns to the coaching staff as he's clearly a great influence in the dressing room.

Stay for what? The guys like 103 years old.

Great servant, top professional, a true leader. But out with the old and in with the new.

Fantastic player, lad and servant to the club. Deserves to play on at Brighton if that is what he wants to do. Hope he returns in some capacity as a coach.

Great influence but as he rarely gets a game and Hendo will soon be approaching the same stage, we can’t really afford to keep two “luxury” players on. I’d have loved to have kept him on as a coach. Best of luck to him. I’ll miss him.

Don't think milner knows the meaning of the word "luxury"

They've clearly offered him a faster track to coaching or something , he doesn't start for this Brighton team either !

Really love that bloke. Hendo too. I think many underestimate the influence they both have in that dressing room and on the training pitch every day, even if they are not playing much anymore. Really hope they both have futures with us as part of the management / coaching set up... We'll miss them if they don't.

Seems like an odd move for both parties.

Also, that we apparently tried a last minute don't leave plea is hugely concerning.

Spend a good part of last years spring and early summer chasing Tchouameni letting our plan B Gravenberch to go to Bayern. Then tank the season waiting for Bellingham only to let him go to Madrid. Not offering Milner a contract and then a last minute don't leave plea.

Our transfer committee seems to have a firm grip on the handle and playing some kinda 5D chess which no one understands.

I want both him and bobby to stay two of my favorite players. Endless courage flawless professionalism.
We need Men, as well as youth. and these owners wont spend much anyway.

It doesn't inspire confidence, does it?

I still find it baffling that a management team lauded for their appreciation of moneyball etc have let the club go on for so long without a sporting director.

Obviously we've got Klopp and loads of people working behind the scenes but from the outside looking in it feels like a rudderless ship.

And we haven't even mentioned

"We have a plan. We wait. We only buy the right midfielder and never panic. How much for an Arthur Melo? Here is 4 million plus weekly wages of 120K".

He was always a Liverpool player-in-waiting. It just took a while to make it happen. Amazing professional, one of the most versatile players I've ever seen (at his fittest you could play him literally anywhere and he'd do well) and the kind of bloke you want around the club. Even though they're our competitors I hope things work out well for him.

James Milner YNWA.
