Milito is on a collision course with Rafael Benitez

Inter striker Diego Milito has become grumpy and distracted according to his agent Fernando Hidalgo, who has voiced his opinion against Rafael Benitez.

The mood is sombre with Milito. And he seems upset with Inter, who replaced the departed Jose Mourinho with Rafael Benitez in the summer.

Now the saga is having profound consequences, claims Hidalgo.

"Diego doesn't feel the trust from his new coach," the agent told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"The Portuguese made him feel indispensable. He made him feel secure and he would transmit tranquility.

"These things don't happen now. In fact he is always under scrutiny. And when it's time for a player to come off it's always Milito."

Things have changed fast since Mourinho's departure, but the momentum is not with Milito as the agent continued with his catastrophic comments. For his part, Milito has looked pale this term, unable to break away from the Mourinhoisms.

"Diego is not tranquil, but being a professional he knows these things can happen," added the agent.

"He wants to come out of this fast even though he doesn't feel the trust he had last season.

"Someone like Milito needs the support from his coach to be at his best."?

22 goals in 35 games last year.

Let's see what Rafa does to him.

Not surprising. He doesn't run enough for Rafa.

He doesn't run fast enough, maybe, which is something I'd heard Benitez say about Milito before.

Although given he's signed some of the slowest footballers to ever wear red, it seems somewhat hypocritical.

He's fast enough where it counts - in the penalty area. But, to coin a phrase, all he does is score goals. That's not a Rafa type of striker at all.

I think he may have referred to Benitez's preference to hard working players who run around a lot. We did have a fair share of hard workers in our team when Benitez was around.

Maybe a straight swap for Lucas while Rafa gets his deskilling program in full effect?
Who'd be first choice up front for us then?

Even Maureen with his Rafadyce tactics found room for both Milito and Eto'o when they won the treble. I'm sure Roy could manage the same with Milito and Torres.

Robbe Keane springs to mind!

For anyone to doubt Militos ability, I'd check the CL final from last year again. Superb striker.
Scores goals for fun and would be an excellent signing for just about anyone.

Not surprised he's on collision course with Rafa.

Eto'o looks better this year though. So, something is working at least.

Are Inter joint top of the league at the moment?
Yes they are. 2 wins and a goalless draw.

Thanks Richey

I have to admit I don't know a lot about Serie A so no idea whether this is considered a good or average start for Benitez but I assume it must be at least okay!

Benitez refuses to show the love........* shocker*

Watch him dismantle that team and lead them to a trophyless season, the fat waster.

Bench him the next time he scores a couple on the bounce

Bit harsh maybe?

I'm no huge fan of Benitez but his record for winning trophies is generally pretty good

Benitez will win plenty of trophies at Inter, because he doesn't have to build a squad.

erm, fat waster is not the preferred nomenclature - dimensionally challenged, please.

Is it definitely Rafa's fault?

Why can't it be that Milito is just sulking because he failed to get his move to Real during the summer?

rafa is using eto'o rather than milito. what's the big deal, eto'o is the better striker.
If it's not broke, why fix it!

They did afterall win the treble last year utilising both at the same time.

And? They CLEARLY have the best team in Italy. They SHOULD be top of the league.
