I’m not all that worried about midfield. We’ll break even there. It’s TAA up against Alexis Sanchez that has me petrified.

He'll cut inside a lot, so it's really Trent and probably lovren

So the consensus seems to be Can, Hendo and Ox. Which means Hendo will "sit" and Can will "roam" – personally I prefer the opposite, that's why I went for the same midfield that beat Man City: Can, Gini and Ox. We definitely need all the athleticism we can get in this game to counter Pogba/Matic, this is why I wouldn't play Milner from the start, even though he's been spectacularly good lately.

This game is made for wini. He should start along with can and hendo. We need to keep things solid in midfield

He's fucking shit enough at home, and approx four times shitter away. I dunno what anyone sees in that utter bag of shit Gini.

I agree with Ryan regarding Sanchez and TAA. It's our only weak link imo. Who ever is deepest in the mid 3 will have their job cut out protecting our young, albeit very talented RB.

Can has been playing 90% of our games when fit. I see no reason why he will be dropped.

It will be Can, Milner and Ox on recent form surely.

I voted for Hendo, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlin but I honestly have no idea who I want out there. None of them fill me with an abundance of confidence nor do any of the alternatives excite.

Milner seems to most disciplined in that regard and can easily drop in at right back if TAA is caught out of position charging forward. I think Milner might get the nod for that reason

Definitely not, but you'd fancy other players to.

In the grand scheme of goals at old Trafford it's comfortably lower echelon

Whats the top echelon? Torres mugging Vidic, Robbie taking the piss out of Neville and Schmeichel, Murphys last minute winnwr, Dossena causing the Stretford end to empty like somebody pulled the fire alarm.

Dossena is definitely toppest tier in recent memory. As is Torres, fowler and most Gerrard ones

Then id class free kicks next echelon

Fabio's free kick to make it 1-3 and seal the points only a second tier goal then?

Im struggling to think of a Gerrard goal at OT that wasnt a penalty. The best of oir recent games was that bicycle kick Benteke scored a couple of seasons ago.

A lot depends on which Milner turns up today. The old and slow Milner, or the midfield dynamo Milner!

So it was Can-Milner-Ox after all. I thought Can was probably our best player on the day, no problem with his performance. Milner looked a bit tired, which makes me wonder why Klopp chose to start him twice within a week – maybe Hendo and Gini were in worse shape than reported and he really had no choice.

Ox was ineffective for 60 minutes; he needs to get better at making adjustments mid-game, but also think he was somewhat a victim of the tactical "masterplan" with Mane as the central playmaker – it was hard for anybody to be effective when we lost the ball almost every time. Hooked just as he seemed to be coming into the game more, to his huge frustration; Lallana wasn't much better.

This was a bit of a reality check for our midfield. And if Im honest its made me a little concerned for next season. Can was easily our best midfielder as he has been on his fair share of games this season. Milner looked very leggy after playing midweek and Ox was completely nullified by their low press.

Fast forward to next season and it currently looks like Keita in, Can out. But that would make us even more unbalanced with Keita a more offensive type player than Can, like an upgraded Wjinaldum. Add to that neither Milner or Henderson looks able to play 2 games in a week anymore and we look quite thin in the middle. Are we counting on Gruijic to step up next season or do we need to go out and buy a replacement for Can this summer?
