From the offal, it's this though:

Liverpool's starting XI in full: Mignolet, Manquillo, Enrique, Toure, Sakho, Lucas, Rossiter, Lallana, Sterling, Markovic, Lambert.
The Reds' substitutes: Jones, Skrtel, Moreno, Williams, Suso, Borini, Balotelli.

Interesting choice in Williams. I think that was quite unexpected.

Jordan Williams? A bit of a surprise. A defensive utility player, I guess, who's improved enough to earn some experience around the team. Good luck to him.

It's impressive enough how Rossiter speaks. Remarkably calm and mature for someone of that age in any kind of profession. What's great is that he doesn't just play well, he also enjoys it, which is getting to be a rarity these days.

Who is Williams @studsup? Educate a brother.

Macca has the answer. Never really stood out to me in the games I've seen of him (not shit, but never felt he was outstanding either), but I suppose Rodgers maybe has him in mind as cover for RB / DM if he needs someone to come in for Manquillo or Lucas at some point, as he's been played across the back as well as in DM in reserve games.

I like the team Rodgers has picked by the way. Of course, it's going to be a bit of a risk playing Sterling, but at least with Lallana and Sterling, it'll provide some fluidity to the play and will help guys like Rossiter and Markovic. Hopefully we come storming out of the gates, build a good lead, and then we can rest Sterling for the weekend derby.

I agree it's a nice looking side. A nice balance between experience and up-and-coming talent, with several good learning opportunities there, and a promising sense of purpose about the team as a whole. Fingers crossed!

Blimey, that's Wenger levels of throwing youth at the cup, I really hope this doesn't back fire on us. Thankfully that attacking four looks very good, really happy for Lambert too, boyhood dream achieved there for him.

This is pretty close to the team I would have picked. The only differences are Sakho instead of Skrtel (I thought Martin needed to play more minutes to build up his fitness after injury – I guess this means Rodgers have made a decision that Skrtel is starting in place of Sakho on the weekend) and Sterling. What happened to "protecting the youngsters" now, Brendan? He played 90 minutes on Saturday. I would have started Suso in midfield next to Rossiter with Lucas at DM.

Surprised Gerrard is not even on the bench. Hope Hendo's injury is not too serious. Suddenly we are looking paper-thin in midfield with all the injuries hitting our CMs at once.

He's only starting Rossiter; Williams is on the bench. Are you looking at the wrong lineup that Modo posted?

Liverpool's starting XI in full: Mignolet, Manquillo, Enrique, Toure, Sakho, Lucas, Rossiter, Lallana, Sterling, Markovic, Lambert.
The Reds' substitutes: Jones, Skrtel, Moreno, Williams, Suso, Borini, Balotelli.

Whoops, my tiredness showing through their, I somehow thought Jones and Williams were starting.

Starting Sterling is just plain fucking stupid! The man is contradicting himself now.
