Mid table Rivals : Transfers and Discussion

Status
Not open for further replies.
A thread to discuss Brighton, chelsea, Fulham and others competing with us for 8th till 14th.

Once we drop into the relegation battle, we'll start a new thread for this rivals too.

Was about to say those teams are a different level to us currently. Honestly think we could get dragged into a relegation battle. Would not be surprised in the slightest to see Everton turn us over.

We are getting nothing from any game soon unless Klopp changes his tactics. And that won't happen. Klopp is done. Sadly.

How is it Klopp's fault if he isn't given money to sign players in midfield that can run and players at the back that can defend?

If Klopp walks then we'll be finishing behind Everton.

Everton will turn us over. I’m not tactically smart enough to work out what we’re doing consistently wrong at corners this season but Dyche will sure as shit know what it is and exploit it.

You dont need to be tactically smart. As long as Everton have three players near the box, Gomez and Matip will do the rest.

He spent it on shit. I wouldn’t give him another penny.
It feels like it doesn't matter who we signed other than Gakpo or Nunez we'd still find ourselves in this mess.

We'd still have same shit defence and if you signed midfielders with that 120m instead right now our front 3 would be fucking Jones Ox and Salah.

Our squad is small, our squad is shit and we don't have a squad that can cope with the physical demands of the league.

Signing Gakpo is like getting paid and lashing it all in the fruity. You’re fucked for the rest of the week and yer ma is calling you a daft twat.

Are you fucking serious? We can all see the man has lost the plot. Fuck off blaming this on the owners.

Mmm, I wonder what's made him "lose the plot", probably having to see the same faces everyday in training he's done so for the last 6-7 years thinking "Yo John, where the fuck are my signings at"

No manager can manage the unmanageable. This squad is a dump fest.

It was not hard to see this happening.Well not hard if you choose to look that is. Ever since winning the CL. That was the time to invest and build back up the squad. Then the Title and WCC was another chance to sign new Quailty players and not the half hearted attempt we undertook at it, with FSG hoping players like Elliott and Carvalho will become the next Coutinho keeping their " Buy them young with a re-saleable value" B.S. going

Beside the players that we never should have bought (The Ox) we have been way to slow on shipping players out. Two years ago I was calling for the sale of Gomez. Made sense to me. He was behind Philips and would have bought in more money

Look at some of our usual starting 11
Alisson 30 (not that old for a goal keep)
VVD 30
Matip 32
Thiago 32
Fabinho 30
Henderson 33
The Ox 30
Frimino 32
Salah 31

A almost geriatric. And before you say it is down to injuries, ask yourself this... When you were young did it not take quicker to recover from injuries than it does now...?
How did we get so many 30+ in our starting line up..?
Is it any wonder why we have so many injuries at the same time we are under perfroming...?

This was coming been saying it for some two years plus

Mitoma just scored another late winner. Pretty sure Brighton will finish above us.

We are finishing between 8 and 10 out of any European Comps.
Gakpo has been signed and people still moaning about it. If we has got a MF people would be moaning about not getting a FW with Salah not scoring, and Diaz, Jota and Bobby all out.
Issues including individual players

Trent - Fucking moody cunt who seems disinterested, can't seem to realise he is at fault for a lot of those goals
Matip - Has lost it
Gomez - Brain fart flatulence laced play
Naby - Weak injury prone cunt, who only makes the occasional good show
Thiago - He looks a shadow of himself with out Fabs near him
Fabs - Utter dross
Hendo - Legs gone
Salah - really has no clue how to get out of the rut

Shit confidence and toxic dressing room

Solutions

Realise we will finish mid table
Hope FSG fuck off
Put more bodies in MF, this might negate some of the bad qualities
Play compact and not the highline
Play Gakpo and Nunez upfront and Salah on the bench

Klopp signed Gakpo. Why?

No Liverpool fan wants Klopp gone, that would be insane. But he's had money, not Chelsea money but cash nonetheless.
No not Chelsea money obvs but for a club the magnitude of Liverpool you'd expect us to spend 100-150m without having to sell a player, no?

Gakpo is 22 and was bought as a option to our front 3.....we lost 3 attackers in the summer and only really bought Nunez in.

Probably still need a right winger, CB and 2-3 midfielders.

Let's see what FSG can do.

Never mind FSG, I could pick a better fuckin team than Klopp is at the moment. Love the cunt but you know, don't go down that Benitez route coz you'll end up history.

Why did you add a year in age to most of the players?

Well done - I think you managed to get each players age entirely wrong - even Virgil, who you made younger than he is.

You’re very special.

I was doing it off the top of my head It is what most of them will be at the start of next season

Details matter.

City have a large group of older players in their starting XI :
Walker - 32
Gundogan - 32
Mahrez - 31
De Bruyne - 31
Ederson - 29
Laporte - 28
Stones - 28
Silva - 28

How are they doing?

For your reference - that’s actual current age, not made up ones from memory or what they’ll “be by the start of next season”.

They’re looking exceptionally flat. I think they’re a little bit behind us and will hit that brick wall soon enough.

Well… they’re City - they’ve had a lower net spend than us over the last few years - they’ll spend like fuck whilst also claiming they’ve kept to FFP and their “cunt” fans will be everywhere telling the world they’re the best run club that ever existed.

Net spend thanks to financial fudgery.

How did you become a millionaire business man by 28?

Well I worked hard and long. Made contacts and got deals. Also, my billionaire dad gave me a job.

Serious l know - I agree - but that’s because I think Haaland fucks their “false 9” press same way Donkey-brain does ours.

They play a more possession based slow games than us (still they press better at the minute).

De Bruyne is the key for them - he’s the one they’ll struggle to replace - he’s so fucking good.

I do think there’s been a tactical reshuffle in the Premier League - we need to adapt to it and haven’t.

Gakpo and Grealish is another comparison.

Even de Bruyne looks way off it now. Watching him against the scum, he only upped it for 15 minutes and that was their good spell. It was utterly predictable up till then.

I get all that - and I have these argument almost daily with a City friend - it doesn’t matter how they did it - they did it and it’s not going to be wound back.

Its shit - but it is what it is - we either do the same, find our own way (like Chelsea currently are) or do an Arsenal and take time to re-build.

Yeah - but they kinda were the better team - not by much.

City have been bring in back ups to those players, difference is they look to bring in quailty. We do the Lidi option....
Add to that, They have the a large squad with quailty in depth that they can rotate the squad and therefore to a greater extent avoid injuries than we can, and adds to the longevity of their squad

Edit:- Pep asks his players to play in a different way to how Jurgen ask his: high press etc...and that also has a effect on the season long performance of those players of 30+
