If Mexico could get one, they do have the quality to at least worry Argentina. They've certainly got good striking from distance.

I reckon that Argentina are more likely to score another one or two. Still, a Mexico goal could make it interesting.

Hope more than expectation from me. Credit to Mexico for fighting it out though, rather than feeling sorry for themselves (England).

Off the line just as I type this.

There are still significant questions about Argentina's defense. They've failed to keep clean sheets, and do buckle some under intense examination. How will they do against better opposition?

It could be argued that Germany have the same problem. Hopefully this will produce a brilliant game for the neutrals.

Looking forward to it.

Argentina v Germany really is a mouthwatering prospect now.

Too close to call. Oezil will find space between their lines, but equally, that Argentinian forward unit could cause havok in the German defence if they get the ball there. Frightening to think Messi hasn't really got going yet, and Argentina have cruised.

I'd have the Mexican LB no probs, and yer man Barrera looked very good. United look like they've picked up a cracking player too unfortunately.

I have a feeling the Argies will just know too much. Their defence is admittedly not their strongest suit this time, but they're Argies so they'll know how to make up for that to some extent by using the dark arts of the game, whereas I can't see the German defence coping with the Argie front runners at all. 2-0 Argentina.

I think i tipped the Argies to win the WC, but now i can't help but think they'll come unstuck when they meet a team with a decent back four.

A duel between two enemies for you Englishmen... 😉

I'd do with Argentina. (hope I'm not jinxing them...)

Haha yeah. We beat them on the battlefield but can't do it on the football field apparently.

I'd prefer Argentina to win purely for the sake of Masher and Maxi. Otherwise it's the ultimate "couldn't give a f'ck" game for an Englishman.

My mom was born in Argentina, so I'm a bit biased I guess.
Also prefer watching their football.

I think i would root for Germany. I like both Argentina and Germany. Shite I like Holland, Ghana, Spain and Japan too. Usually when a worldcup starts i just can't decide who to support. So i would be happy with anyone but Brazil and Portugal winning.

Usually i like underdogs. Not many people gave Germany a chance before the start of the tournament. We even had a thread on world-cup aphorisms, and how Germany will come unstuck big time. I'm going to stick out for Germany just for that reason.

The Mexican fans are great. A party follows them everywhere they go!

I was sat amongst a great bunch last night. Never stopped cheering, no bitterness at the poor decision, and were celebrating as much as the Argies after the final whistle.

I'll miss having throngs of them bringing the fun around JHB.

Good stuff. Restores (at least partially) one's faith in human nature in general and in that of football fans in particular.

I'm not so sure Germany's is. Friedrich is a bit shit, and Mertesacker is slow as fuck.
