Mexico v Argentina

Yep, he is tiny.

I'm really excited for this one, and for the rest of the world cup as a neutral.

Mexico-v-Argentina in the last World Cup was a great game. Let's hope this one follows suit, after the trainwreck of this afternoon.

Argentina should win, but their defence doesn't look as convincing as usual. Masher may be a busy boy tonight.

Love it, he's seen his mistake on the screen. Surely we won't ever see another world cup without video technology.

although, the game hadn't re-started at that point, so why can't he change his mind?

Remember when that ref gave Batistuta a penalty against Liverpool then changed his mind? It's been done before...

1-0 to Argentina. Tevez was offside.... what on earth is going on, the teams are crowding the refs....

What a fucking farce, this took 5 minutes. Five full minutes. To arrive upon the wrong decision.

But we can't have video replay. Because that would disrupt the flow of the game. I fucking loathe Blatter and that gang of retards at Fifa. They actually claim that the controversy of the refs being wrong is more entertaining than a game playing out correctly.

Why?
Clearly there is no need for it.
Just ask Mr Blatter.

Sepp Blatter's ruined the game, if the linesman/ref could change their minds then they would have it seems.

I thought you were right earlier, could the ref not have changed his mind before they restarted play?

The refs are put in an absolutely shit position where they can't see most things, are cheated all of the time, and then denied assistance. Even when they happen upon good evidence, they can either be actually correct or follow their directives.

Hopefully something might happen following todays decisions. Now we just need the world cup final to be decided by a blatant dive/play acting and things might start to change

they do need more help, maybe the europa league extra officials should have been used for the world cup

lol this referee is gonna be having nightmares involving mexico players tonight

I used to hope that, but the reality is that Blatter and the rest of them will say they will investigate ways to improve the game, but think the controversy is good for the game.

Then the furore will die down somewhat. And they won't do shit. Remember the uproar over Henry's handball, what came of it?

At most we'll get those additional refs like in the Europa league. No technology though, we want to fix the issue while preserving a certain significant amount of human error.

Fifa are the fucking Amish.

Today has been (or at least should be) a major embarrassment for FIFA.

For this to happen in the two biggest games of the World Cup so far so soon after they publicly announced goal-line and video technology would not be considered is pretty awkward. I wonder what the response will be.

Either way, this game has been ruined now. Argentina are ahead and Mexico will struggle to regain their composure after being cheated in such a manner.

That's a game ruined by a bad decision. Even worse is that is was compounded by a referee who quite clearly knew an error had occurred.

This game has the potential to turn ugly.

What a strike by Tevez.
Goal of the tournament?

Dunno.. I still think Villas first goal wins for me.

If Mexico could get one, they do have the quality to at least worry Argentina. They've certainly got good striking from distance.

I reckon that Argentina are more likely to score another one or two. Still, a Mexico goal could make it interesting.
