48th goal in all competitions for the season tonight.

WHAT.A.MONSTER.

Still, he's a big girls blouse till he signs on the dotted line and does that shit for us against West brom et al on a weekly basis.

I love the little genius.

Him being 4ft tall, with a big nose and a "boring" haircut make it extra special as he's the Anti-Cuntnaldo.

Agreed.

Edit: That he's cuntworthy and not some demi god.

He's just an uber talented midget cunt.

He's got 18 assists in La Liga this season too, which is some kinda record apparently.

Still, Wayne Rooney scored an overhead kick this season, so all things in perspective n all.

Surpassed Ronaldo's club record of 47 goals in one season with a fair few games left in the bag.

He needs the national side to stop fucking around and give him a platform to achieve something for them. Then he'll be up there with Maradona.

he should easily get into the high 50s for this season which is absolutely insane for a guy who is usually the smallest least physically imposing player on the pitch

in time he will be classed as best ever over Pele, Best, Maradona et al
He'll need a WC win or two to do that Fox and that looks unlikely at the minute.

Why? What did Best win at international level? (I don't actually know, i'm curious.)

if he doesnt win the world cup it shouldn't count against him. Maradona had some quality players with him in his day. sadly messi doesnt seem to have similar luck. Shables defensively and not many quality midfielders. Higuain, tevez and messi up top is immense, continually let down by whats behind them though

If you take away Maradona and Messi from their respective Argentinians squad, I dont think you can make the claim that the 1986 team was significantly better.

Having said that, I dunno who the 1986 Argentinian manager was, but I am fairly confident he was better than 2010 counterpart 😀

1 Almirón • 2 Batista • 3 Bochini • 4 Borghi • 5 Brown • 6 Passarella • 7 Burruchaga • 8 Clausen • 9 Cuciuffo • 10 Maradona (c) • 11 Valdano • 12 Enrique • 13 Garré • 14 Giusti • 15 Islas • 16 Olarticoechea • 17 Pasculli • 18 Pumpido • 19 Ruggeri • 20 Tapia • 21 Trobbiani • 22 Zelada • Coach: Bilardo

bolded ones i thought were meant to be good. Suppose there's not much in it really. But the defence was much much much better then, probably giving the forwards more license to go up the pitch

plus burruchaga was a beast

Playing for Northern Ireland - have a wild guess?

That's what i thought, but i don't see why Messi would have to win a WC to be compared with Best?
but best isn't considered the best there has ever been. Messi (if he does this for a few more years) should be considered the best.

I always thought Best was one of the erm... best?
he's prob top 10 and people bum him but as far as i was concerned it was always between diego, pele and maybe cruyff
Some people (not me) do think Best is No.1 all-time.
Prob do, unfortunately its not quantifiable. On the whole across the board i was always under the impression the consensus was pele or diego
