Ah yes. Which is going to end with us potentially finishing 6th or 7th. Ill judge him on that. RESIGN.

I thought I saw a player who no longer had any faith or belief in the manager.
He's captain of Liverpool Football Club, whether he's given up on Rafa or not is simply no excuse for his cuntish performances and shit attitude.
He's pissing me off more and more with every game and if he leaves in the summer i'll not lose any sleep over it.
He's 30 in the summer and as far as i'm concerned he's he'll never be as good as he once was.

You will be when he's rejuvenated and he's banging in goals, left, right and centre for another team.
Similarly, I think a change of manager (a motivational one, like MoN or Jose) would do him (and the rest of the team) a world of good.

Gerrard has been poor this season and his attitude has indeed been questionable. I don't find the attitude of fans calling him a disgrace and "WORST CAPTAIN EVA!!" much better though. How strange that people are always so willing and so quick to turn on the player who has given this club more than anyone else in the squad over the years. It's just something I'll never understand.

THIS SEASON his performances have been pathetic and his attitude disgusting.

It's alright when he's getting his arse licked by everyone when he's doing well but when he's not doing well, you can't say anything negative about him. double standards or what.

It's nothing to do with double standards. Did I not just say his performances and attitude have been poor?

I just think people (read: you) seem very trigger happy when it comes to coming down hard on Gerrard and it's something I just don't understand. Maybe you don't like the guy, I don't know, but it's clear you have some sort of anti-Gerrard agenda deep down somewhere and I'm really not prepared to listen to any arguments telling me otherwise.

Have a good night.

So if i see Gerrard strut around the pitch and not give a fuck, not show any leadership or fighting qualities whatsover, not communicate with his team-mates and what have you i should just say nothing as it might look as if i have something against him?

when rafa first came it was rotation for rotation sake. I'm purely not talking rotation I'm talking about playing in form players and dropping players stinking the place out, that's not rocket science that should be common fucking sense.
I understood what you mean mate. I am not finding it ironical that the guy who rotated players with the intention of keeping them fresh now does not rotate at all, during the course of a season.
rafa sees people as chess pieces rather than individuals. he looks at the oppersition and then picks players to counter that opposition. rafa is at his best when he has nothing to lose and gives the team more freedom, like the end of the last season or the CL final second half.
So basically, he's at his best immediately after realising he's made a massive cock-up.

Of course it's not a reaction to todays loss. I think this debate has been going on for years now and you're absolutely correct.

It's perhaps one of the reasons that I actually do enjoy watching Rooney play for England (and link up with Gerrard) these days - his desire to win is infectious. It's something that goes beyond simply working hard and you can see it in every game he plays.

We have a few players like that with Masher and Reina being two of the best examples I can think of, however the club is simply littered with too many individuals that don't possess the same mental qualities. It's damaging.
It's funny you say this, Ken.

Where the fuck is Stevie's "mentality" these days ?

His body language the other day, playing for England is all "come on lads, we can do it" even when subbed.

The look on his face as he was sat on the subs bench on against Lille on Thursday night (a game we were comfortably controlling) was sarcastic contempt.

I LOVE STEVEN GERRARD ETC... but, he's got to pull his head out of his arse for his club.
Agree with Spidey with the apathy which sets in due to lack of rotation 🙂) But I think this is a problem pre-Rafa. We have never been able to consistently punch above our weights. When our playing standards drop we conveniently adjust our expectations. Find reasons to why we should not be expecting to be the best. I will hold up my hand and say that I have been guilty of this also. I am sure if you dig up my past posts you will find plenty of examples of me defending some shit performance based on net spend etc.

and themn : My aim is not to single out players. If you look at Ferguson's reign at teh Scums, the number of times ordinary players have stood up and be counted is insanely high.
I don't like to single anyone out particularly but, Steven Gerrard just did not turn up today and we need him to, especially against teams like Manchester United.
Today ? Only today ? I am sorry, but he has been saving his energy for his country throughout the whole season !!!

And yet, had 'Nando not had his head up his arse for the final 85 minutes of that game, he'd have created two late goals to inspire a legendary comeback...

You're right that he's been dreadful for much of this season, but the whole "if he leaves, I don't care" thing is utter bollocks, mate - You'll never appreciate him more than when he's gone, 'cos there's NOT A FUCKING THING coming up behind him to fill the gap he'll leave.

And then, we're proper fucked.

True enough, Whad. People complain about our lack of attacking drive and impulse now. Take even a half-motivated Gerrard out of that equation and think of what we're left with. Fact of the matter is that our captain has been playing like he has something weighing him down and we need him still at our club and firing on all cylinders to meet even our lowest basic expectations.

FWIW i don't see how sticking the blame on Gerrard for Sunday helps in any way, we need more good players not less! Gerrard was patchy and did give the ball away badly again but for me the difference between the two teams was pretty much marginal, Torres should have levelled it up at the end you simply can't miss those kinds of chances.

I didn't see extended periods of United dominance i can only remember one save from Reina and that was for a shot going wide, both teams pressed and harried and they hadn't played three times in a week and are not having a shit depressing season... crappy peno to award as well.... they had better wide players and for once we didnt win midfield.

Gerrard has been at maybe 60% of his normal self this season and tbh i have never rated him as a captain however he would still walk into any other side in the league.

Suprisingly as a one of the RCDNW brigade I do blame rafa for this season he should have stopped the players from sulking about the atrocious financial stagnation and lack of quality reinforcements but sadly his position is such that the pressure is on him so he needs to deflect blame by drawing peoples attention to our cunt owners all the time... we know already Rafa ... we just don't want the players playing like its fucking hopeless from the get go. Gerrard being as moody as he is hasn't helped because of all the players he's the one easiest to read and he's clearly fucked off, and being the captain doesn't help things.

If the players around him contributed more with goals we wouldnt be where we are in the league.
