Sometimes on Sunday evenings I listen to "The Press Pass" on TalkSport, where assorted hacks get together and chinwag about sport in general, and football in particular. The programme hasn't been over-friendly to us in the past (you can imagine how they went to town over the Suarez business for example), but in the past few weeks there's been something of a change of tone and I nearly snorted a mouthful of tea out of my nose this evening when that pompous old scrote Paddy Barclay said he reckoned we're one of the sides in with a chance of a CL spot. Obv.it's very early days, but *maybe* they're getting bored with hounding us all the time?

Its the same over here. Most hacks have been extremely critical of us this season, but the last few weeks have been very different.
Most seem to think that Rodgers is onto something and with some signings and given time we'll be a force to be reckon with again.

I despise Barclay regardless.

The hacks closest to LFC, emotionally, are probably cooler now than they were a couple of months ago. Tony Barrett, for example, is pretty sceptical about FSG and Rodgers these days. As far as the non-LFC hacks are concerned, yes, there's probably a mild eagerness to see the club and manager do well, because some like Rodgers, some have a 'give British managers a chance at big clubs' agenda and some just want a new story.

I've never really cared for Tony Barrett's opinions. He's written an awful lot of shit and doesn't seem particularly bright.

Trouble with Barrett and Bascombe, they stepped up from a provincial paper partly on the back of their inside knowledge of Liverpool.
The truth of the matter is they now know jack-shit about what goes on in Liverpool, and have to resort to made up and speculative shit, they don't have the contacts in the wider game like those shits Barclay and Samuels, so are actually now a little less empathetic to LFC

regards

Vlad's pretty much right, as usual, although obviously they don't lose their contacts overnight. What they tend to hold on to are a few senior pros (such as Carra in Bascombe's case) and then they often get a few new internal contacts among those at the club who are bitter and disaffected about the present regime - which means they do still get a few well-sourced stories but those stories tend to be increasingly negative and unbalanced.

Genuinely had been avoiding spoilers as I hadn't quite finished s3 of Boardwalk, so nice one for that :/

I think maybe you should delete that clip, studsup.

It's rather spoilery and kinda NSFW.
