Mbappe you crazy

I'm bored of the Mbappe football thing. It was a joke before but now it's so absurd it's just pointless.

This isn't necessarily about Saudi or Qataris or other super rich.

We saw where the game was going and other wealthy frauds got rich by not ensuring the various quality control was in place.

And now, it's a bit of a joke.

Re Saudi league, we've seen attempts by rich Russians and Chinese to get their countries competing and failed.

I dunno much bout the golf LIV sport thing, but seems there was so much noise and controversy for what? It all to die down and merge with the PGA?

I think this'll last a few years, maybe Saudi will get the next world cup, we'll have the same moaning and groaning about sportswashing while some wealthy people get richer and the Saudis claim some kinda victory and it'll die down again

I can see someone like him having a little hankering to play for Liverpool for a season before continuing on to his dream club Madrid. That is somewhat plausible imo.

But why would PSG allow this?

Aren’t the better choices to have him play for a year or get at least some money from Madrid right now? What is it I’m missing that makes sense about a loan to Liverpool?

If I were PSG, I'd either have him train with the u21s and have him deregistered or suspend him for 12M on full pay. This will fuck up his chances for Euro 2024. If a player wants to play hardball, that's how you do it

Can’t suspend someone for not extending a contract or force him to play in U21s unless he is actively disrupting the team.

He would win a employment court case very easily.

How is he playing hardball?

So far I have seen two things from him:
  1. He has said he is happy to play one more season for PSG (i.e. do what it says on his contract)
  2. He has refused to go to Saudi
Fucking evil bastard!

He’ll never be able to secure his family’s future with an attitude like that!!!

Don't want him anywhere near our team , the whole chemistry and bonding between our players will be spoiled by having a player who is counting the days hours and minutes he has to wait till he wears the white Jersey of Real Madrid .

Agree with that.

It is a bit absurd how PSG are raging.

They offered him insane contract to stay last summer, and now are pissed as he says he will see his contract out.

They want to flog him to a non-entity club in Saudi Arabia. Clearly he won't go there when Real Madrid are waiting in the wings.

As for coming here, it won't happen. Surely he will go to Real on loan if anywhere. If he came here, the shirt sales would be astronomical, and cover much of his wages.

A 12 month loan is absolutely garbage unless he's willing to commit long term (even 2 more seasons after).

And given how he's pulled PSG to and fro over the past couple years, that would still be a huge risk.

Not to mention the position he plays in is the one that we're stacked in (albeit, he would be a huge upgrade regardless).

I dunno. Two years ago I was Team Mbappe.

But now, even assuming there's a shred of truth to the opportunity, that's a no from me, dawg.

£70m+ - that's a lot of shirts. If the margin we get is like £20 per shirt then 3,500,000

The fact this appears every season is mental especially people believing it has any legs.
We have sold our two starting CMs and still haggling for a replacement, there is no way we would spend any money on fax transaction fee to even submit a fake bid for PSG.

Yep the fact that we are effectively down six midfielders - after having a season that showed we needed to replace our midfielders - and have only added two with any urgency is pretty concerning. Tick tock FSG. Tick fucking tock.

If you are gonna turn down $1.5bn, there's probably a bigger pot in the US on the long run as to why

I would assume it involves Messi capitalising on his image rights in the US.

The point being that selling all those shirts isn’t necessarily going to translate to loads of additional revenue for Inter Miami - not directly, depending on what sort of deal they have with Adidas.

Has there even been such a talented individual in football who is unilaterally disliked? I can't think of anyone.

I really enjoy watching Mbappe play. His innate talent reminds me of Ronaldo. All the the smoke around him though just stinks.

Exactly. Beckham has said he wants the Inter Miami brand to be ubiquitous, like the New York Yankees.

He doesn't need shirt sales in the short term. He needs eyes on the logo to help people care in the long term.

Two months ago, they were a last place team playing in a temporary stadium that no one cares about and, frankly, were a bit of a joke.

Now, they're still all those things but are one of the hottest (for the moment, anyways) properties in sports and sports-entertainment.

Neymar was the predecessor in more ways than one.

Also Mbappe reminds me of LeBron James in his younger days - universally acknowledged as one of the best ever, but often disliked, particularly after all the drawn-out transfer/trade sagas designed for maximum PR splash.

The MLS did a 10 year $830m to sponsor all MLS teams. From what I understand Messi is doing really well out of it. I think I read somewhere Adidas helped convince him to go to the MLS. Inter Miami no doubt get a cut of sales from their online shop and retail store. Undoubtedly, they're going to see record turnover. Not sure what they'll make after Messi takes his cut.
Good luck to him, he keeps his wealth and himself humble.
