i'm not really comfortable with the idea of hodgson turning us into some kind of purified english-only club.

And we all thought he was just an old duffer.

does no one think this might have lost something in the translation , and or been taken out of context.
Not that it matters that much

I hope so. I like what I've heard of Mavinga and hope to see him as left back with Kelly in the centre in the not-to-distant future. We cannot afford to let the more successful of our youth prospects leave before they have reached the point where we can enjoy the benefits.

Based on what? Kelly has looked better at every level hasn't he?
Based on my gut feeling and nothing else!

that's a relief. it would've been really careless - and completely unnecessary tbh - for hodgson to have let himself be photographed like this. better that he keeps this stuff to himself. really, i'm not really too happy with him announcing his vision to the less senior members of the playing staff, as i can see this whole thing being more negative PR for the club.

Content removed?

Intriguing . . .
It was just a gag from Jono that was a bit ott. No biggie.

Phil Neal was saying last night that the playing staff at Melwood has been cut from 60odd to 30odd since Hodgson's arrival. I suppose all you readers already knew that.

Mr Michael (a very good poster on Est and he was on here for about a week) translated the French and felt there was nothing to worry about.

Apparently on his way to Belgium club Racing Genk on loan. Article states that a move was initiated during the summer but was unsuccessful and Genk's interest is renewed/paid off 6 mths later.

Seems like he's not alone in the 'Roy treats foreign youngsters unfairly' legion.

András Simon's agent has launched an attack on Roy Hodgson after the striker's contract at Liverpool was terminated by mutual consent.

Viktor Kovesdi accused the current Kop boss of prioritising young English players over the club's foreign imports such as the 20-year-old Hungarian, whose only experience at senior level came during a season-long loan spell with Córdoba last season.

German second division outfit Alemannia Aachen are expected to secure Simon's services now he is a free agent, but Kovesdi feels highly aggrieved at his client's treatment during the final months of his three-year spell with the Reds.

He said: "The player had a three plus two year-long contract which was extended automatically last summer, but his future became unclear after the change in manager at Liverpool.

"The successor of Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson puts the English players to the forefront instead of the footballers from abroad.

"This approach can be seen at the reserves because some of Simon's team-mates from abroad have departed from the club lately."

Hodgson's belief in home grown prospects also irked defender Chris Mavinga in August as he threatened to quit the club due to limited opportunities and is expected to join Belgian side Racing Genk on loan until the end of the season.

Personally, I would rather have quality English players come through the Academy than foreign players.

However, the most important thing is how good they. If they played like Messi and Ronaldo, I wouldnt give a damn if they came from Mars

In fairness the rules are clearly gonna skew in favour of local players in the next couple of years anyway and its likely most clubs will be doing the same thing as they can only accommodate a certain number of non nationals and will want to reserve those for the marquee names, if there is a youngster with serious talent they are not gonna be cast aside for a local no hoper

I haven't seen him play since LFC tv became free to watch (and stopped showing anything worth watching) but I really liked the look of him.

Well, i'd imagine the fact that Pacheco, and Suso have been highly touted would show we just want good youngsters - no-one wants several more Insuas.

We made about £3m out of Insua so I wouldn't mind the odd nearly-made-it. The people we need to avoid are the players like Simon who we all knew was never going to make it. If I remember right we got him to keep Nemeth happy.
