I am so upset he has left. This whole saga was so interesting, after the Liverpool result it is the Chelsea one you turn to next just to make you feel better or to make your day better (if LFC won). Now there is a risk they may improve - but then again there is a chance that those players are so fucked up in their heads that maybe it will be too much for them to actually win. It's your right to dislike Guardiola, but it's hard to argue with the fact that football has generally evolved into Guardiola's direction rather than Mourinho's in the last 10 years. And among the top managers, Mourinho is almost alone in playing primarily counter-attacking football; everybody else is trying to win the possession game like Guardiola.

Can it be argued that Guardiola's football is better because it just so happens to work because of the lack of world class defenders in world football ?

The Barca team still played this passing game before Messi as did most Spanish teams, but the Italians and other teams had strong defences to hold on. Also I don't think from what I saw of Athletico Madrid when they won the title - that their football was of Guardiola's kind - and was more Jose/Rafa style in terms of organisation and tight defence. Despite Jose's antics - I strongly disagree with that article as I believe there is a place for him in this period of football - fucks sake he only just won the English PL last season - so the article is bollox for the most part. Agree on the idea that the players of today want a more cuddly friendly coach than the regimental types of the past modelled on Fabio Capello.
