Match day 25 - other games

I have a feeling all three teams - us, City and Arsenal will drop few points in this last run. Apart from Arsenal's last two games, everyone looks vulnerable at defense and for Arsenal it depends on if they can be mentally stable in this run up.

Arsenal have a difficult run coming up, no? I think they will drop points after CL fames, just like City have done.

True, but Nunez does so much more for us, than Haaland does. He's a goal hanger. Nunez creates too. So fuck the narrative.
I agree completely, but if you want to argue why you'd rather nunez, let's not bring up finishing until he does what he's been doing recently for a little bit.

I didn't say I'd rather Nunez. Though I have to say in our team, I would. I said Nunez would be pilloried for Haaland's misses today. And he would. My point, obviously, is that the media enjoys a certain narrative about Nunez.

Well, at least one of them is guaranteed to, and suspect all will in the games between each other. But guessing you mean outside of those games?
yes in other games.
But i meant the way it is poised up right now is too fascinating for a football fantasy lover, like a thriller unfolding.

Arsenal have away game at City.
City have an away game at Liverpool.

I think there's a difference though, Halaand has 52 goals in the league in the last two seasons, Nunez has 18. If we're talking about goals and finishing, there's no comparison.

yeah including CL.
Porto away, then New Castle home. CL game with Porto then Chelsea at home. Then Arsenal go to City after the break I think. Towards the end they will still have to play likes ManUtd & Spurs away anyways.

I'm not sure what is so unclear about what I said . Haaland, as is undeniable, is probably the best goal scorer in the world. Yet if Nunez, who is not just a specialist in scoring misses the chances Haaland missed today he'd be called a donkey. Is that such a fucking hard point to comprehend? Jesus H Christos!

I think thats ok though? It's ok for Haaland's to miss some as he scores so many(same as Salah), it's not ok for Nunez as he doesn't score very many.

We play City at home, Arsenal play them away.
So someone is dropping points.
All three play against Spurs, although we play them at home.

This is 100% accurate, that narrative is just mentioned all the time, even in todays match there were at least 2 chances where Mo fluffed his lines, and Haarland is 2nd behind Nunez this season on missed clear chances. Any lets hope he is as clinical as he was with the first goal today.

Yeah yeah that too but everyone has tricky games while competing in other competitions.

I also meant the way it is poised up right now is too fascinating for a football fantasy lover, like a thriller unfolding. Exactly what you pointed out, but from a point of view that on paper Liverpool are at home against City and Arsenal have to play away at City. City still have to play both the contenders. Very interesting.

Yeah it definitely looks like it's going to be an interesting end to the season.

Are we comparing Nunez to Haaland. Haaland is wonderfully clinical striker but if he isn't scoring, he doesn't do much.
Nunez, misses a lot but makes our attack function better. Besides, one earns £800-900k a week the other £80-90k a week.

Blue loonies:

Absolute corruption, red cards denied, penalties not given and job done by VAR.

Played shit and got a point so Ill take it. Said in the pre-match that we would be screwed and the ref didn't disappoint

Didn't play good but clear red card and 3 pens ignored.. Fuck off PGMOL Refs! We'll just have to win 14 straight again!
C'mon City!

As bad as we were in first I thought we were excellent in second. How is that not a pen. Rolls down his arm and then there is a movement pushing the ball at the end

Having won the treble last year and have won the premiership 5 out of the last 6 years you might expect a little tolerance when we have an off day. Or to be more precise an off first half. If we beat Brentford we'll be one point behind Liverpool. Jesus, i hope it's just the the Saturday night ale talking, but some of the reactions on here remind me of certain fans in Trafford when they thought they were god's gift to football

How can we have 70% possession & 32 shots, yet have less shots on target and less genuine goal scoring opportunities than our opponents? Just think about that for a moment!
We are either the most inefficient team to ever play, or have no idea how to defend! I think it's a mixture of both

Whatching MotD atm and just saw Wang of Wolves give a perfect example of what we called a ‘Wanger’, forty years ago.

How so? Title was always in our own hands before the game, still is now. We still can't overly risk dropping points
It’s a mental game as much as anything and seeing City drop points at home to Chelsea will have given the team so much belief that even with Haaland and KDB back they are beatable in the run in. Means we potentially don’t have to be perfect which in itself reduces some of the insane pressure to win every game which will increase our chances of winning. Also means they could come to Anfield behind us as opposed to in front.

Also might take the sharpness off some players as they think "oh they've dropped points". If we know we have to be perfect, ideally we play as best as we can. I'd rather not let complacency set in

Ha ha. I see what you’re saying but there is absolutely zero chance any of them have complacency.

it would be nice if the CL congestion derails Arsenal.

Saw a stat that said we’ve played each other 3 times this season. Scored and conceded same number. Each of us has W1 D1 L1, yet they took 4 points in the PL, we took 1 and added more fixture pile up to our team.

They had the best end of that bargain. No one will care that we won an FA Cup if we lose the league by 3 points or less.

I thought the colwill one was a penalty. Not for the handball. But for the pull of the shirt from behind.

They got away with it. So fuck it.

Cue next league game, us and arsenal drop points
If we do it’ll because we are knackered and have lost so many key players. Potentially 5 nailed on starters out injured for Luton.
When we got battered by Arsenal, it wasn’t us being complacent or lacking urgency, they were simply fresher. They played 3 games in the 27 days prior to the league game. In the same time we played 7 times! More than double and that was after the gruelling and insane Xmas period. Too many games in too many comps will be our undoing yet again.
