Massive game for Roy

Lose and we could be back in the bottom 3 after 11 games, win and we could be 6th.

It's amazing what a few decent results can do and others have shown that if you get at Chelsea you can beat them.

No reason to believe at home, that we cannot win if everyone plays well.

A draw would still be a very good result as things stand but in terms of Roy's immediate future a win would keep him in charge for the season.

I've been shocked so many still don't have the Greek as a must starter. He wins everything in the air and causes trouble at every corner.

Also a little worrying that every goal we have scored since the opening game has been set up by Gerrard or Torres.

Please God no injuries.

I wouldnt say its a massive game.

We've got a shite squad, i dont expect us to get 3 points against Chelsea, I'd be surprised if we got one.

It's more important that we start picking up wins against the rest of the league, today was a bigger game for Roy.

On a sidenote I see that our next Saturday 3pm kickoff is boxing day. Fucking hell tv really has taken over. i think we've only has one saturday 3pm so far.

To be fair being in the europa league means were already nailed on for a sunday match every other week for the next month

Exactly.

I really don't give much of a damn when we play.

Ya. If we were not choke filled with thursday midweek games in our schedule, we would be playing more on saturdays.

I think every game is a big game for Roy at the moment, so I wouldn't dismiss Dreamy's title so easily.

He's fighting to convince the new owners - and the fans - that he's up to the job, and good luck to him.

The league is stupidly close. Blackpool was a shit result but Everton, United and City away are all losable at any stage of the season, they're all tough games and I doubt the statistical bellends who point to our 'shit start' acknowledge that. ]

That said, Roy is struggling, obviously, by his media comments and his 'head in hands' routine in the dugout, but a result next week will do wonders, it took him a few months to get to grips with Fulham, and Rafa was nowhere near on fire league wise in his first season, so...

It's not really a 'Massive game for Roy' at all.

If we win, fine. We're still a mile off and nobody will be won over by him or his tactics/gameplan/management/etc etc. If we lose, he'll have all the excuses he needs cos they're far better than us anyway and should expect to beat us.

So meh.

EDIT: Just noticed everybody else has already pointed this out to you anyway.

Double meh.

I don't think a win against Chelsea would guarantee Roy his job as safe until the end of the season Pat.

I think it would give the new owners the belief they require to give him time to turn things around after an awful start league wise.

We are no1 for games on a Sunday apparently.

It's not a massive game for Roy, but it is for Liverpool.

I don't expect Roy to deliver though. It would be a happy kind of surprise if we get anything out of this game.

Deliver what though? It's not like there's some magic formula that will see us win. We played well enough against Arsenal on the opening day and Chelsea are hardly hitting the heights atm. That said our squad is so thin at present the team is more or less picking itself, the best we can hope for is a big game from the usual suspects and that Chelsea don't turn up firing on all cylinders.

Nah. It is not a massive game for Roy. If loosing it he will state he didnt believe we were up for it anyway.

Bolton away however, that is massive stuff for stuff like Roy Hodgson.

Yeah Im am well aware of the effect of the Europa cup on the days we play league matches. But by 29th December we will have played 20 league matches and eight europa league matches, and only two Saturday 3pm kickoffs.
