Man of the match - Game 9 - Crystal Palace - Home - PL

Suarez
Sturridge
Toure

All obvious choices. Henderson wasn't even close to those three.
Toure didn't put a foot wrong all game.

That's bullshit. Check out Wizardry's post for the reason why.

Don't need to, had my eyes fixed on Touré for most of the game, his movement, intelligence, defending is 2nd to none in the team.
He's also very calm and accurate with the ball. Sakho did OK, not impressed with his passing, at all.

I agree with your analysis of Toure. In fact I also had him in my top 3. But I think @Judge Jules was referring to your belittling of Henderson, who was also absolutely boss on Saturday.

EDIT: Ok, just checked Wizardrys post. I was wrong. I can see his point, but Toure was fucking brilliant on Saturday, and to discredit him is wrong. I also agree that that was probably Sakho's best game for us to date.

I was referring to both points really, neal. Toure has been a tremendous signing for a number of reasons and he had another good game overall against Palace, but sometimes his defending style walks a bit of a tightrope in the way Wizardry (accurately IMO) described in his post.

You're right to suspect though that my main target was the garbage Modo posted about Hendo.

Until we learn how to control games and the opposition doesn't get to seemingly play to their hearts content deep in our half our midfielders and fullbacks can piss off.
Midfield is a combo of at least 2. He couldn't do it all on his own.

Rewatch the game just looking at Hendo and his movement and positioning and you'll change your mind.

Toure got beaten in the air a few times just so you know. He played well but was not perfect.

Henderson wasn't bad but he wasn't excellent like those three. I think the only reason he's in the top three for some, is because he was playing in DM and people naturally focused more on him rather than other players. Just like when someone from the reserves makes his first start, does "OK" and gets into the top 3. There were probably players who did better than him on the pitch but he gets a spot there because all eyes were on him.
Funny thing is that JJ is making it look like I don't rate Hendo, which I do. I've even previously stated that he's our back up DM. So this isn't about Lucas.

Nope he wasn't perfect. But neither was Sturridge and he got MOTM (how Suarez didn't get it is beyond me). But yeah, Toure does look like he could easily give away a stupid penalty. Hopefully he's clever enough to avoid doing that in the future.

No. You're just wrong. And I don't even rate Henderson.

The Lucas/Agger fanboy would never consider putting Skrtel or Henderson in his top 3.
Sad cunt.

In fairness I think it's telling that most of the people that have put Henderson in the top three are the ones that were most vocal in the most recent Lucas thread. It's understandable really, given that they would pay more attention to him and be urging him to do well.

He had a good game, but he wasn't in the top three for me. I hope he does as well again.

I suppose the reverse could be said too Gerry.
The posters who are downplaying the performance of Henderson seem to, in the majority, come from the Lucas defenders camp

I voted for Henderson simply because in my eyes I thought he had a good game.

I don't see Henderson as a rival to Lucas. I don't think Henderson is a "defensive midfielder." I see him as a young creative player who is improving all the time.

I had Henderson in my top three as well and I happen to like Lucas.
I though he brought a dynamism to the central role that can sometime be lacking.
If anything I see him, in time, eventually replacing Stevie rather than Lucas.

It probably could be. And I don't think it's intentional on either part. So we have to look at the more "neutral" posters and see what they say...
