* This is the 2nd time in his LFC that Lucas has made it into my top 3 and I have voted for him for the same reason as last time - he actually did some good things instead of the usual "he did nothing wrong" - at least (for the time being) he has cut out the stupid free kicks he gives away and his tackling is a bit more solid.

** This does not alter the fact we will NEVER win a major trophy if he is a regular starter.

To be fair, he gave two daft freekicks away, but in his position it's hardly surprising, Masher used to give loads away.

And the last bit is bullshit.

It's not bullshit Mark, he's a thoroughly average player who should play a peripheral role similar to Gibson does for United, Denilson does for Arsenal and Mikel for Chelsea (when Lampard and Essien are both fit).

People are getting far too carried away with our last 4 matches - it's still only weeks since we lost abysmally to West Brom and West Ham (completely outplayed in both games) and drew at home with a poor Braga team. We're improving but until we replace Lucas with a top DM we'll plateau soon enough.

You're surely not holding Lucas personally responsible for those defeats? The whole team were garbage.

Obviously not but in my eyes he's obviously a contributory factor if he's a central midfielder and for the last 2 seasons we've been overrun in this position by supposedly inferior teams.
 
tbf, theres not many 24 yr old top class DMs is there. He's doing well and he's continually improving

This is unfortunately true BUT that's the Ferguson effect; he can win things with players like Carrick, O'Shea, Gibson, Evans etc - unfortunately 99.9% of manager can't.

True true, I just see Kenny in a similar mould, he sticks to the basic principles of football and pass and move and tries to integrate that throughout the club, so that when lesser players do step in, they don't always look out of place or out of their depth. Look at Flanagan, Spearing and Robinson.
 
There's no doubt that under Dalglish most of our players, including Lucas, look better but it's a bit of a long shot to hope that Dalglish's alchemy skills can match Ferguson's. Here's hoping.
 
Thing is, though, success breeds success. Ferguson too had to start somewhere, and incidentally took a sod of a lot longer than the King to get into his stride.

Not that much of a long shot, Kenny knows his football as evidenced by his short term in charge.
