Man of the match - Game 47 - Swansea City - Away - PL

You're on a different fucking planet if Joe Allen wasn't your man of the match.

Mignolet made some good save sure, but they're all reactive efforts. Joe Allen took the game on all night, proactive, bossed that midfield for large parts, and was easily our best and most influential player.

I am surprised that noone take into account that allthough Allen had a good 2nd half he was overrun in first half and we were kept in the game by Ming a d defence. The midfield was better second half but to me Hendo was just as commanding as Allen. Allen had his best part after Gerrard came on and he was released from defensive duties. But if why do we judge only by that part and not by the whole game?

Allen had a good game overall, I don't think he was overran so much, as we were pressed deep in midfield in the first half, which forced mistakes from us, he was the only player who continually turned his way out of trouble, and aside from one poor pass, he also saved us on a few occasions in the box with great last ditch tackles. He was also as close as anyone, bar maybe Sturridge at the end, to scoring.

My pick of the bunch were Ming (though his distribution once again frustrated), Skrtel, Sakho, Hendo and Allen. The rest were a pile of meh/shit.

I'm sure there are some videos of the match hanging around somewhere. A second look should re-adjust your perspective.

IMHO opinion Hendo is getting a pass from many because he has had a great couple of seasons and generally is a very steady and reliable, occasionally spectacular, player, who is well liked by fans and because his errors can be (and were) covered by a defender.
Had Lucas, Lovren, Gerrard, Johnson or Sakho played as he did in the first half then this board would have slaughtered them. Yes he really stepped up in the 2nd half but in the first half he was utter shite.

1. Allen
2. Skrtel
3. Henderson

Ming's saves were great (as usual - that's always been his strength), but his distribution wasn't what it has been lately and I thought that contributed to our inability to get going in the first half. He also played at least one dodgy pass across his own area which I did not appreciate.

1. Allen - I love Joe Allen. He bossed it all night. Some swanky touches from him at times too.

2. Mingolet

3. Henderson - Deserves it for his part in the goal which earned us the three points.
