I also thought Sakho was immense. He had something like 93% passing accuracy today.
I had him in my top three and IMO it's becoming clear why Rodgers particularly wanted him. The style of play which Rodgers is establishing requires us to keep the ball and the players constantly on the move. Without doing anything spectacular in the process, Allen is key to making that style work.
I think there are some very real questions here about whether Stevie G will (or should) go straight back into the side when he's fit again.
Agreed. During the pre match conference Rodgers mentioned that he was surprised about the low ratings Allen got. So I decided to try and focus on him during the game and I realised that he runs his legs off for us. If he loses the ball, he chases after it, if someone else loses the ball he does the same.
He closes down opponents instantly and works well in tandem with our other midfielders.
But what I mostly like about him is that he does all that and helps out in attack as well.

Allen would have been easily in my top 3 based on his first half performance, but in the 2nd half he was a bit ordinary – too many misplaced passes and again looking not fully confident at times. Maybe he is not quite able to conserve energy while still playing at a top class level. He needs to learn this particular skill from Xavi and the other masters. They can still look top-class even when playing at 70% and you always feel like they can turn it on at will.
