Not content with being an astronaut, fighter pilot and author, Buzz Aldrin has made his career complete with his latest mission - recording a rap song with Snoop Dogg.

Snoop offered Aldrin some guidance on his rap technique

The second man to set foot on the moon teamed up with the rap superstar and producer Quincy Jones to record a hip-hop track called Rocket Experience.

It was released on Will Ferrell's comedy website funnyordie.com to mark the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing mission.

In a special "making of" spoof clip, Aldrin made the tongue-in-cheek comment: "I have only two passions, space exploration and hip-hop."

Snoop described him as having "the biggest buzz on the streets right now" while Jones raved about the space hero's "great groove".

The astronaut - who goes under the rap name Doc Rendezvous - delivered lines including: "I'm the spaceman, I'm the rocket man, it's time to venture far, let's take a trip to Mars, our destiny is to the stars."

Snoop approved of the 79-year-old's performance, saying: "That's hot right there, man. That's gangsta."

The pair have kept up their new friendship through Twitter, with Aldrin telling the rap star: "I had a great time flowing with you. Next time we have to take this joint intergalactic... or at least to Mars."

Snoop replied: "You got da biggest buzz in da streets right now. All you need is a Rocket Experience."

On a more serious note, all the money made from the song and video sales will go to Aldrin's foundation ShareSpace, which supports space education and scholarships.
