Liverpool centre-back becomes the first player to speak out after the departure of Brendan Rodgers
Mamadou Sakho has become the first Liverpool player to speak publicly since Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Liverpool manager.
The French defender has spoken of his frustration with the former Anfield boss, after he was let on the bench for the club's opening five games of the Premier league season.
Speaking to French newspaper, L'Equipe, in the wake of Rodgers' departure, Sakho admitted the omission from the Liverpool starting line-up had left him like a 'caged lion'.
"Let's say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who has not fed for a while," Sakho explained.
The comparison may go some way to explaining Sakho's conduct in Sunday's Merseyside Derby. The former PSG man twice had to be pulled away from Everton players after two separate scuffles with Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku.
"(Like a caged lion) when you open the door: he charges."
Sakho has also revealed his Liverpool team mates have made him a 'scouse dictionary' to help him understand the local dialect.
"If I say 'sound lads', now I know what that means: it means 'cool man'".
