Madrid get Real over Suarez swoop

yeah seriously it's all bullshit. we've got no money and we're just waiting for madrid to give us some.

Lol, but seriously, I've been thinking this the last couple of days.

The club are resigned to/prepared for the departure of Suarez and are gambling by buying all these players up front and looking to balance the books with Luis' sale to whoever, thus, not having a known shed load of cash that leads to another Carroll piss-take scenario.

Probably.

But it'd be great if we spent loads of money and bought loads of class players and then Suarez stayed.

McGovern, though now I come to think about it, it could have been some other Irish name. Anyway, he was a cock.

Yeah, um, you're going to have to explain.

You had an argument with the former captain of Nottingham Forest ?

Huh ?!

Huh, I had an argument with an Oirish on here last week. It could have been a Forrest player, it could have been Paddy, it could have been Bono... but either way, it's safe to say, he was a cock!!

Mark,

1) 'John McGovern' was Paddy's log-in when he tried to slide back in here.

2) John McGovern (the Forest captain from their glory days) is Scottish.

3) What in the actual fuck are you on about ?

I'm guessing as soon as Carroll leaves we'll see some serious movement. Aspas will be a great signing though.

do you really know that ? I mean how much do you really know about Aspas and how often have you seen him apart from clips ? isn't he in his mid 20s already , you'd think if he was top class he'd be known already in bigger circles although of course that obviously doesn't mean he can't reach those levels .

Take solace in the fact that before Swansea, Michu was at Rayo Vallecano (15 goals). And before Rayo, he was at Celta Vigo (6 goals).
And he was 25 too when he left Celta.

Lining up the positives.

I'm only messing. I think everybody was more obsessed about the price of Carroll to worry about Suarez.

Yeah we were simply and totally cheesed off with Torres' going and Carroll coming at 35 million so much so Suarez's signing was a non event. Suarez was suppose to come in to play with Torres as a support striker. No one imagined he would totally take over our scoring department.

AM fans fancy Martinez over Suarez. Must admit I'm a little surprised.

Over 22,600 MARCA.com readers have weighed in on the debate as to who should lead the Atlético de Madrid strikeforce next season, with Jackson Martínez the supporters' pick to step into the shoes of Radamel Falcao.

Like 'El Tigre', Jackson is Colombian and would come to Madrid via Porto, having joined the Portuguese outfit from Mexican side Jaguares a year ago. He enjoyed a truly thrilling debut year in Portugal, scoring 26 times in the league – ironically, one more than Falcao himself managed in his first campaign at the 'Dragons'. These credentials earned him 27% of the votes in our poll.

Next up in the fans' sights are Edinson Cavani and Álvaro Negredo, Napoli's Uruguayan marksman polling almost 24% and Sevilla's Spanish sharpshooter netting 18% of the votes.

Fourth on the list is another Uruguayan, Liverpool's Luis Suárez, whom only 13% of Atlético fans want to see at the club. This is a surprisingly low figure, although the fact that cross-city rival Real Madrid has been heavily linked with Suárez could have something to do with it.

Two other Premier League operators, Aston Villa's Christian Benteke and Manchester City's Edin Dzeko, came next in the poll.

Finally, bottom of the pile is Roberto Soldado. The Valencia striker was one of the top goalscorers in 'La Liga' this past campaign, but that doesn't seem to have convinced the Atleti fans, with only 3.7% voting in his favour.

We were linked to Martinez last year before porto got him

People weren't overly impressed but thought "if porto want him we should get him"

and lo, what happened

Florentino Perez is set to continue in his role as president of Real Madrid after standing unopposed for re-election.

The La Liga club's electoral board met on Sunday to confirm that Perez will remain in the post having been the only candidate to put himself forward.

The 66-year, whose investiture ceremony will take place on Tuesday afternoon in the directors' box at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, was widely expected to continue in the role for another four-year term.

Perez first held the post from 2000 to 2006, before returning to the club for a second spell in 2009.

His first six years saw Madrid pick up two La Liga titles as well as the Champions League, while the era was characterised by the 'Galacticos' policy which saw the arrival of players such as Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Ronaldo for large transfer fees.

Perez's first stint came to an end when he quit in February 2006, having gone three years without winning a major trophy.

However, he returned to the role three years later after his three potential rivals all withdrew from the election race, with the €57.4 million bank guarantee proving to be a stumbling block.

Following his re-election, Madrid brought in the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2009, at a cost of £225 million.

Manuel Pellegrini, who had been appointed as coach, was dismissed the following summer with Jose Mourinho being brought in as his replacement.

The Portuguese led the club to the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Supercopa during his three-year spell in charge, before leaving his post following Saturday's win against Osasuna.
