Romelu Lukaku has been directly involved in 51% of Everton's Premier League goals this season
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has turned down the most lucrative contract offer in the club's history.
The Premier League club had been confident the Belgium international would sign a new five-year deal thought to be worth around £140,000 a week.
The 23-year-old's agent, Mino Raiola, had said his client was "99.9%" certain to extend his stay at Goodison Park.
However, Lukaku has told the Toffees he currently has no desire to extend a contract that has two years to run.
Lukaku has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League and has been linked with a return to former club Chelsea, from whom he joined Everton for £28m in 2014.
Everton may still hope to persuade him to stay but, if not, will demand a fee in excess of £60m for a player who has scored 19 goals this season.

It's a shame Kenright isn't solely in charge anymore. If he was they'd sell him in the summer for £50m replace him with Rooney for about £20m and pocket the change. The bitters would be up in arms

Quality player, would get into most starting XI's

Not too sure what clubs have that kind of money and who are in desperate need of a striker.

He could end up at Dortmund if Aubameyang is on the move? Think PSG only have Cavani as an out and out #9...

Cant see them getting 60 mill anyway with him having 2 years left on his contract and not wanting to sign a new one.
May have to lower their demands a bit.

Arsenal have been looking for a replacement for Giroud like forever, they'll need two when Sanchez walks out in the Summer. United may need a replacement for Ibra...., Chelsea don't really need him unless Costa leaves, would they pay 60m for him and dump Batshuayi ? If United get all over Spurs for Kane then that could be a destination for him. PSG is a good call too. Shouldn't be a lack of options.

Hopefully he will leave England because he's brilliant.
His goalscoring record at his age is phenomenal.
I remember him being brought on against us when he was about 19 with West Brom.
He tore the arse off Agger all the way around Anfield that night and I remember thinking he could be anything if his attitude was right.

Hopefully Everton can keep a stiff upper lip and continue their fine form since the turn of the year.

It would be just dreadful if this ruined their season. A real travesty.

I have and he is. He's a superb attacking player but he's defensive work rate is isn't there for the most part.

He would never fit the bill for Klopp

He isnt lazy Pat.

He wont track back & run players down for 90 minutes, but based on that you could lump half of our greatest strikers in that category.

That said, he definitely wouldnt suit our system. Mourinho would definitely get the best out of him, so Utd may surprise Chelsea & go all out for him.

I've watched him closely loads and he doesn't put in anywhere near the amount of work required in our system when we don't have the ball.

Didn't Jose let him go twice at Chelsea?

The same Jose that let De Bruyne,Mata,Bonnuci and Arjen Robben go?
I'm sure there's loads more.

He was happy to sign again for a huge pay-increase, as long as the contract included a clause that essentially meant he was free to sign for any bigger club that showed any interest.

The wording of that clause - "involved in CL football" or whatever - and also the inclusion of some kind of release fee that didn't mean Everton could ask for £100m minimum, appears to have scuppered the deal.

I suppose it now depends on how desperate Everton are to keep him for another season, in agreeing to the wording of a contract that makes it clear he's available for £60m or whatever, to any team who finishes in the Top three or four in their respective league.

That doesn't make him lazy. Our system is different to that of other teams. He scores a shitload of goals too and his last 5 seasons have been for teams around midtable (except that one season Everton came 5th or 6th under Martinez). He's more an out and out striker than it seems would suit our system but he's a brilliant player.

I am sure the lack of an out and out striker in our current system is more down to the fact we don't really have anyone who's good enough more so than it's down to Klopp not wanting to play with one? At least I hope so, and he did enjoy his most successful time with Dortmund with Lewandowski on top. And he's a top quality out and out striker.

Lukaku would be amazing for us I reckon but also a signing that's highly unlikable to happen for various reasons.

This guy is bentake mark 2. Good player no doubt, just totally ill-suited to our system.

I disagree. He makes his own chances, he plays nifty touch and go 1-2s, he finishes off moves with both feet and head, he holds up the ball, he is a proven goal scorer, he doesn't get injured much, he's pretty fast for his size and he's only 23!

I will break every bank to get him if we have half a chance of getting him.

That's a fair point. I didn't watch as much of Dortmund as I'm sure some on here did during the Klopp years, but it seemed they played a 4-2-3-1, rather than the 4-3-3 we play.

Should have happened when he was at Anderlecht and we had 35 million that was burning in our pocket after the Torres sale. Lukaku moved to Chelsea the next summer and we were stuck with a 35 mill ponytailed donkey.
