the attitude of winning at any cost should be an attitude of the entire first team not a select few.
Shouldn't. Sure way of having a team full of weird moaning arseholes.

I posted this October the 8th 2010 elsewhere on here
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With regards to Luiz Suarez:

In the past watching him play for Ajax - the Season when he was shitting goals - I wasn't at all convinced. He missed at least five sitters in every game even in those where he scored three. His shot-to-goal ratio must've been one of the worse in quite some time.

And when you then look at the likes of Kuyt, Alves and Huntelaar coming from the same league shitting goals and see how much they've struggled to hit the same figures everywhere else (Huntelaar has started well in Schalke mind) you'd be inclined to think that a fee in the region of £20M and upwards for Suarez would be a good waste of money.

However I've slightly changed my stance after watching the first games of the new Season as he not only look much matured but also far more dangerous. His freekicks are out of this world really and his eye for his team-mates has improved a lot.

I'd be tempted if he were indeed avaliable in the region of say £20M at this stage as he's gone from decent with a marvellous goal-record to great with very much the same ammount of goals to his name.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm still surprised however with the impact he's had so early on. We could only dream about such a start to his Anfield career really. Long may it continue.

And fact of the matter is I don't miss Torres one bit after only five games, who would've thought?
I've echoed the same Kris, he doesn't strike me as an out an out goal getter, which is fine because he seems a bit more enigmatic and spontaneous. I don't think he's the kind who'll thrive from or look for being played in on goal behind the defence all the time, I think he just seems to like to bide his time and conjure up something when the opportunity presents itself.

He's like a fuckin attacking sweeper. Some bellends in ours half with the ball thinking he's a beast and Luis pulls his hair while no ones looking robs the ball and then #winning

Yeah, he's more of a Rooney / Tevez than a Torres. Certainly like those two he doesn't lack commitment, but will probably have flurries of goals with the odd lean spell.

I don't mind the odd lean spell because there is no doubt he would provide assists and cause havoc for the opposition defence.

I think it's fair to say that neither Suarez nor Carroll will ever score 33 goals in a season, like Torres did in his first for us. They could be a great combination, but I must admit I'd like us to have a pure goalscorer in the squad - someone like Hernandez at United who's young, doesn't cost a fortune in transfer fees or wages, and is good enough to replace/put pressure on the other two, but also to come off the bench and win games in the last minute.

Anyone got any ideas who we could get in that mould?

I cant see a lean spell due to a lack of form or him being unarsed tho. He's like a dog with a big fucking bone. Hopfully the only lean period comes when he bites some cunts face off an gets a ban.

How about combined though? Is it unrealistic to expect 35-40 goals a season from them as a front line?

Suarez will definitely be another legendary Liverpool Number 7.
2 goals 3 assists in a brand new league. Compare that with Torres who's played more games for Chelsea. Fernando who?

It's also unrealistic to expect Torres to ever score 33 goals a season again.

I think both Carroll and Suarez can chip in with 20 goals each per season, isn't that better than being dependant on one striker for 33 goals?

I think that's what he was saying Hansern. I think Carroll and Suarez gives us variation, but to build up the squad BM is right, we need that third option, which for me would be someone in that mould, a nippy young player for a reasonable fee who first and foremost is a bit of a goal getter. It's a tall ask and I'd even go as far as to say that I'd like to see someone like Young come in ASWELL. Someone who will play the third role for us up top (outwide).

Ideally and as unrealistic as it probably is, this is what I feel we need over the course of the next season or two (though of course I'm sure more holes will appear). One of each:

Left Back
Centre Back
Defensive Midfielder
Central/Attacking Midfieilder
Winger/Wide forward
Striker

Nah, with better players around him he will become an absolute goal scoring assist making MACHIIIIIIIINE !! Watch him fly !

Love Suarez. Abolutely. We'll get three years out of him before his wife wants to move to Barcelona, but it'll be a great 3 years. So great to not be dependent on one striker. Never understood how Rafa didn't have ample replacements up front. Stupid really. But anyway, great to have goals now coming from several places!

Ah, maybe I misunderstood then. Read on another site that we bid 15 mill £ for Young on transfer deadline day, and that we will be back for him this summer. He'd fit in perfectly.

I think we need at least 2 wingers, a left back, midfielder and a centre back. 5 players at least.

Exactly, Mark. Ideally we'd have a new Fowler/Owen in the reserves, but I don't think any of the strikers are good enough. Shame about Nemeth - I had hopes for him.

Someone would pay about £5m for N'Gog so it'd be worth cashing in and going for someone better, he's done ok for the fee and at times exceeded expectations, especially earlier in the season, but to push on we need better. He's a nice lad though, never complained once and always gives 100%.

I'm not against cashing in on Ngog but I'm not sure a good striker wants to join us to play second fiddle to Carroll. Maybe a young striker like Wickham but I think Ngog is just as good.
Considering that we might buy two wingers this summer, Kuyt might be utilized as and out and out striker next season.

The little money we have should be spent on wingers and a LB. When that's sorted we should go for Adam and maybe Cahill.

If we cash in on N'gog - and I feel we should, because his value will not rise further when he won't play that much - I don't think we need to reinvest the money in another striker.

With Carroll now in the team, the 4th striker (after Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt) is just going to feed on scraps (Carling Cup, Europa League if we qualify) unless 2 of the strikers are out for an extended period of time. I'd be more in favour of using that money to contribute to areas we need more help in, and drafting in one of the youngsters as the 4th striker (Ngoo, Eccelston - if he's kept on, or Ince - if he stays).
