West Brom are trying to set up an ambitious loan deal for former Liverpool star Luis Garcia.

Albion are managerless following Tony Mowbray's decision to quit for Celtic. But the relegated Premier League side have not stopped sounding out possible new players.

The Baggies have told potential replacements for Mowbray they believe they can get Spanish striker Garcia on loan with a view to a permanent switch.

The versatile 30-year-old has fallen out of favour at Atletico Madrid, who bought him from Liverpool in 2007. Albion hope to appoint a new manager next week once they finish interviewing.

We'll always have fond memories of Lil Luis - he scored some of the most memorable goals we've seen over the past 10 years, but we let him go at the right time ...

Surprise surprise he's fallen out of favour at Athletico.

He's been a bench player the past two years - I don't think he's hit double figures in total ...

Seems rather unlikely that a club would be setting up a loan deal before they even have a manager really.

He was a terrific player for us at times, but by God he was inconsistent.

I never understood why quite a few people put Garcia on such a high pedestal and dismissed his many, many shortcomings.

10 minutes to go against 11 defenders and needing a breakthrough, garcia all the time.

Most of his goals were earlier than that but yes he did score a few important late ones.

A lot of the time, however, he would fade out of the game. He was irritatingly inconsistent. Still, his overall record for us was great so one can forgive a bit of inconsistency

He's fondly remembered because in recent years he produced some of the finest goals and memories we've witnessed, and we wouldn't have won the CL without him.

He's a bi-polar player, for sure, so will obviously divide opinion, but failing to understand why he's loved by so many is incomprehensible.
