Luis Alberto

Liverpool have agreed to sell Spanish forward Luis Alberto to Serie A side Lazio for £4.3m.
Alberto, 23, made 12 appearances for Liverpool after he was signed by former manager Brendan Rodgers from Sevilla in a £6.8m deal in June 2013.
He has now travelled to Rome to discuss personal terms after impressing while on loan at Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna last season, scoring six goals.

The fee also includes add-ons and a 30% sell-on clause for the Reds.

[edit] ahh- that'd be a wooosh

Anyone doing the maths? How much in credit are we disregarding paying up wages and agents fees?

I saw him play 'live' once and I couldn't get over how fucking static he was. He played like he was wearing leg braces.

With the loan fee from Deportivo last season added aswell I think I read that we have gotten back just about what we paid for him, with the add ons included obvs.

Thanks for that but I actually meant all ins & outs

According to Transfer league we're 2,7 mill in green before this transfer, so about 7ish mill then.

Are we sure this isn't a loan? An Italian team, paying actual money to buy a player rather than offering to take the player on loan and expecting us to pay half the wages?

He looked like a Viz cartoon, he played like a clay model designed for stop motion filming, and he acted as if even he didn't believe he was up to the job. A fantastic fee for a terrible signing.

He barely played, so I'm not sure whether we can assess him either way on what he did at Liverpool. I barely remember him coming off the bench, other than against Spurs when he set up Suarez' goal. By all accounts he's done well in Spain and he's got a move and we've got our money back, so it's not that terrible. We took a punt on a kid and it didn't work, we only did that on a few kids during Rodgers/the committees time. We've thrown alot more money at kids under previous managers.

He looks quality in that clip btw, he was involved in alot of their goals and looked anything but static. Quick footed, good skill and a great eye for a pass and a goal.

Yeah, and it makes Alberto look like he had a good season in Spain, because he did. Unless you want to ignore the goals and assists in the video that are pretty impressive. It's a lousy comparison.

Clearly not good enough for Deportivo to take him back, or for Klopp to give him a chance.

But enough for him to get a move to a top club in Italy. Sevilla also wanted him back but we couldn't agree a fee. So like I said, it's not a bad move for him and we've got a decent fee for him. It's not what you'd associate with a poor player.
