The Italians have appealed the decision

One Direction? Now I'm well gutted. You missed One Direction mate
and Jessie J's arse....
So Israel is still the only country in the world with more Nobel prizes (11) than Olympic medals (7). Losers.
You're not completely alone:
'Israel is one of six countries in the world with more Nobel prizes (10) than Olympic medals (7). The others are Myanmar, Guatemala, East Timor, Yemen, Bangladesh, and St Lucia. And of those countries, it looks like Israel has the most of both'.
Ireland leading Great Britain in the medals per capita table apparently😉
That's just something people from small insignificant countries bring up after they've failed.
That said I was impressed greatly by Katie Taylor.
The more you invest in sport, the more medals you win.
That's it blame the recession...
Am only pulling your leg by the way. Outside of the boxing gold and silver medals I have no idea what else Ireland won a medal in.
The Olympics have been wonderful.
I think Britain is a country that needs constant reminding of how great it is to combat that dark, inherent cynicism that runs through must of us, and events like the Olympics has certainly done that. Everything has run smoothly. The volunteers were fantastic. The fans have been brilliant. Anyone who had anything to do with the Olympics should be very proud of themselves. But mostly I'm glad that our athletes got the rewards they deserved, their moment in the spotlight to showcase their talent to billions of people.
The IOC chief was spot on by calling these Olympics 'refreshing'.
