Don't be bigging yourself up too much Rosco. I remember when you were were arguing that we shouldn't be offering Agger a new contract back when Rafa was in charge.

He'd still argue the same now, what with him being peak age n'all. We shouldn't have allowed the lad to get to this stage of his career with us.

Or we can just say, "what a shite two years it's been, we bought the wrong players".

No doubt though, it'll be blamed on what good players we do have, because, if they were that good, they'd make up for the other 5 players in the side that just aren't up to scratch.

Mark your own inside info showed why your solution is impossible.

I don't have favourites, I don't have a preferred way of doing things. We're in a hole with these players, I'd rather step out of that hole and bury the cunts than continue digging. Our 'best players' are still shite.

At the end of the day, you have to build on what you've got. Selling a big name when you've got no money shouldn't be ruled out, but it shouldn't be general practice. And getting rid of all of our best players (or some) just because we haven't reached the heights is failing to see the wood for the trees. They might not be infallible, few players are, but they're players that are capable of playing for top sides and doing well.

There's no point digging out new holes to fill in existing ones, because it never ends. You have to add more soil by getting rid of the stones and, the bits of deadwood.

I should point out that i agree with a lot of what Rosco says on this subject mate, it's just that there seems to be no flexability regarding his viewpoint on certain issues.

Mixing metaphors and shit, by the time we've accumulated a decent bunch of players from inside and outside the club the good players that are here wont be good any more.

I'd rather sell those flowering beauties now so we can buy more seeds, to create an entire beautiful garden than watch those flowers wither and die while our few seeds sprout. And shit.

Ha... read the reply I've just posted to him in the other thread, I've just said pretty much the same thing. I don't totally disagree with some of the points, because it varies from player to player. Being stubborn and applying it across the board to everyone is being as blinkered as some of the managers and people he's fighting against, like Rafa (no offence 😉 ) and co

Haha.. I get the point Ross, I do. I just think for now it's more productive to sell the players that obviously don't cut it and buy better players. I know we'll be hard pushed to raise much funds with that, but by the same reasoning as you're offering, I'd rather get them off the wage bill and invest the couple of million here and there on young up and coming players, that fits the philosophy in a more productive way IMO.

If a player wants to leave then fine, we don't want flowers that are going to overgrow into next doors garden.... err, let's quit the garden metaphors while we're ahead.

Even bringing Hodgson into it misses the point. Hodgson was just happy to be here. He was in the twilight of his career and fuck knows how he got the job, fuck knows how he got the england job! Rodgers is a completely different kettle of fish. I don't know how to call him, but that in itself is exciting to me!

Hodgson wanted things done his way. What do you recall him doing? Playing tiki-taka football? I remember him screaming for the ball to be hoofed up the pitch, with no player given his head to play with any wit, style or imagination. If you think he wasn't doing things his way, and, for that matter, isn't doing so now with England, we'll have to agree to differ. What he did off the pitch is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. Okay, Rodgers so far has talked well, but I'm not much interested in that - and how he fares with actual games we have yet to see, so there's nothing to be said positive or negative there.

I must say, a propos the broad topic of the thread, that I'm pretty sick of Henry waffling on about the 'Liverpool Family' (into which he has recently welcomed not only Kenny Dalglish but also, er, Chevrolet), and Tom Werner talking about whatever the cronk-mouthed office dweller tries to talk about in that weird sub-Wittgensteinian private language of his, and I'm tired beyond ennui of seeing and hearing Hot Ayre doing his Cecil Purslow impression. So I'm generally peeved and anxious, but ever hopeful, as we all have to be

Ah, a clean slate. In the meanwhile hoping not to get relegated.

Nothings changed on the forum really except Spider-Neil and Brendan have left. Posters are actually putting thought into their posts, putting forward good arguments and making sense. There's always going to be the for and against but theres place for both when thoughtful posts are put out worth reading. So well done lads.

I think its kind of football and kind fo general but mainly football and looking at how deluded, upset, anxious, mental (in my case at least according to many on here) we have become concerning our great club and its gradual perception of demise. Really - there is so much anger in us all about the team, the players, the owners - just about anyone connected with the club BUT in many ways its a justified hate because given the size and history of this club - last season really was NOT GOOD ENOUGH or remotely ACCEPTABLE. We accept better, on and off the field in all our dealings. Looking through the threads and some of the information (true/false) - it can stir emotions right up ones backside - especially when we see all that money being spent on wages for well below average players, and the frustrations of us watching money literally being p*ssed away when we all know we don't have a big sugar daddy to back us in order to sustain some of the bad financial decisions being made.

Hahahahaha, Ross you're so full of yourself its untrue.
And wrong about most things, but I think the answer you're looking for is somewhere in between your two options.

You should sort yourself out on here, you've gone from a superb poster to a dick.
