Liverpudlians

I was wondering about that old sterotype of 'the funny scouser', do you think people in Liverpool have a pre-disposition towards humour? Or is it a total myth?

Growing up my only knowledge of scousers came via the television in the form of Cilla Black, Les Dennis, Stan Boardman, Jimmy Tarbuck and Kieth Cheggers Chegwin. They all left an unfunny sour taste in my mouth.

However when I moved to Liverpool, mainly for the club I chose to study in Liverpool, you do see a very quick wit, especially in some of the 'arl fellas who would come into the pub I worked in. So is it a genuine difference in the attitude and way Liverpudlians tend to interact with each other, or is it just another one of those old stereotypes like scousers are always nicking stuff?
