[article]Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Polish forward Mateusz Musialowski from SMS Lodz, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The 16-year-old attacker is regarded as one of the best young players to emerge from Poland in recent years.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider the club have beaten off stiff competition to win the race for Musialowski after having a bid accepted.
He has agreed the terms of a scholarship contract that is set to be converted into a professional deal when he turns 17.
Liverpool will have to pay training and development costs to his club SMS Lodz, who play in Poland’s fourth tier.
Musialowski has been capped by Poland at Under-17 level after progressing through the age groups with the national side.
He has long been recognised in his country as one of their best young talents and first came to prominence at the age of 13, when he was compared to the teenage Celtic sensation Karamoke Dembele.
Like Dembele, Musialowski is a skilful forward capable of operating in any of the main forward positions or in a playmaker role behind the spearhead.
Europe’s biggest clubs have been keeping close tabs on Musialowski for many years and there has been a stampede of interest this summer.
The youngster, his family and representatives have been convinced that Liverpool can provide the pathway to achieving his ambitions.[/article]
