There's over 12 million likes ... The top 10 include some unexpected surprises:

10. France (253,000)
9. Turkey (356,000)
8. Egypt (380,000)
7. USA USA USA! (393,000)
6. Mexico (453,000)
5. India (584,000)
4. Malaysia (800,000)
3. Thailand (843,000)
2. UK (1,170,000)
1. Indonesia (1,300,000)

India is the oddest one in there. Didn't realise they followed it so much, and if they do, why are they so crap.

Edit: And I do realise that Facebook likes probably it's the most accurate of indicators of a football teams interest

I was surprised to see Egypt up there, but to see Indonesia ahead of the UK!

Also, Mexico!??! Fucking hell ... we should definitely use that to try and get some foothold with one of their top clubs to get the next Chicharito over etc

Indonesia has more than a hundred million population and football is their national game after badminton in terms of popularity

Lot of passion for football in India mate. Remember that due to the population, even if a small minority of the population follow it, it is still a significant number.

Indian football team is shit and the football infrastructure is also shit. But there is lot of interest in the game. For example the Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal derby in Calcutta attracts fills a stadium of capacity of 120,000. I am from Kerala. Even the local district level games are sold out. During world cup time you will find that in places like Kerala and Bengal, entire towns and cities come to a standstill.

Premier League started getting a lot of attention in India starting in the 90s. A good percentage of the Indians who were teenagers in the 90s follow football. Thats when I started following Liverpool also. Only issue is that since most of the people were introduced to English Premier league in the 90s and 2000s, majority of them are Arsenal, Chelsea, Manc fans.

I think you'll find that the amount of access and usage of the internet certain places have might have some relevance.

LTW, u mad I haven't "liked" the Liverpool FB page?
