Matip was much improved. Which wasn't hard
I thought we lacked creativity and intensity. Thankfully so did Palace.
Rotating in the second game of the season suggests nothing positive at all.
Players were dropped, not rotated.

No surprise we looked better when we subbed Wijnaldum and decided to play with eleven men.
Salah and Solanke had good cameos.
Mane confirmed his importance to us again.
Robertson wasn't tested defensively too much but I'd start him over Moreno every day of the week.
Matip was very good indeed.

God, we needed that. Unconvincing but a win is a win. Really impressed with Robertson. Best I've seen from Matip in ages too. Oh and we're in serious danger of losing Mane if we don't mix it with the big boys/have Champions League Footie and all that jazz - the lad is quality.
This has been a particularly great week for the pun quality on SCM with Howedes by @Mystic and this.

It was clever and funny the first time. And the theory of diminishing returns then applies.
