Liverpool vs Man City (H) Sunday 4:30pm - title decider?

I...cannot....wait....for this game on Sunday. It brings me calmness to know no matter what happens we leave Anfield in 1st place but we have enough to get a result. I expect it to be a cagey game, neither one over-committing afraid of the other's counter and to be a slow scoring affair. Last year we drew 0-0 at Anfield with immense luck of Mahrez missing the PK very late in the game. We have been wasteful on offense and leaky on defense, but they are not firing on all cylinders either.

I really hope the City game is that one game when everything we do goes our way. Basically like the Arsenal game when Skrtel scored twice in the first half.
Like every shot on target goes in type of game. We're due one.

Yes, that would be nice. A genuinely one-sided, stress-free win against our biggest rival in a crucial game.

Hahahaha. Well, we can dream.

Obviously, but it would be nice if we for once can decide a game in the first half. We did run over them in the CL though, so it's not impossible.

Last minute goals are great. Getting stressed out every time before that isn't.

After the goal line chance last time that would be a nice change. We’ve failed to beat them in the last 3 games now.

I don't see why we have to be cagey in this one. If anything, they should be very nervous coming to Anfield. It's not a ground they've historically done well in, even during our average years.

Besides, if they lose, the title race could be over. So they should be the ones playing nervous; all their players should be scared to make the mistake that costs them.

We should be playing with a healthy nervous energy, but a freedom/calmness/excitement to express ourselves, knowing we will be top regardless of Sunday's result.

Good post, and I agree. I think we can play close to without fear in this one, if thats possible against your biggest rival for a possible title.
We'll be in front no matter what the outcome, and City have potentially more to lose.

There is no point in speculating in what the City team will look like even with their injuries. They'll get everyone fit for this game regardless.
I fully expect Silva, Ederson and Rodri to play. Fuck even Laporte could be back with some robotics, horse placenta and shady lab work...
Just wait and see.

We know from last season that they were feeling down and out, that the race was over and us slipping up gave them a massive injection of belief.

We simply can't let that happen again. We need to win.

We'll likely drop points during the December period so opening the gap now is important.

The mind games that come out of Manchester are off the chain. First De Gea and now Ederson?!

So arguably the biggest game of the season.

A few possibilities with Ox in a rich vein of form and having history against City.

Still I think Klopp will go with tried and tested.

Becker
TAA
Lovren
VVD
Robertson
Gini
Henderson
Fabhino
Salah
Mane
Firmino
Am not mad about Lovern, I'd prefer Joe

--------------Allison
TAA - Gomez - VVD - Robertson
--------------Fabinho
---Henderson---------Keita
Salah-------Firmino-----Mane

Ox to come on for Keita if we need a goal at 65th min, Gini if we need to hold.

Isn't that what we have OriGIIIII for ?

I'd be happy with that, apart from obviously not Keita.

WTF?!

I'm probably one of the most level headed/optimistic people on here regards Keita, & even I think that it's absolutely batshit fucking crazy to even think of starting him against City.

Also, Lovren will start ahead of Gomez, & rightly so, cos Gomez needs a fair few more games before he's back to the Gomez from last season (I missed Gomez in that line up first, cos I was so gobsmacked by Keita's inclusion).

It's not that weird choosing a not-quite-matchfit Gomez over Lovren, though.

Just setting up my new kick arse (fucking amazing) iptv app, & stumbling across a Live Klopp interview on SSN. Pretty good.

It is against City IMO, & expecting Klopp to do it is very naive, considering how often Klopp has played Lovren in big games, & the fact he's played in 5 of the last 7 against City.

Oh, I don't think he will. I just wouldn't mind much.

I'd be genuinely amazed if he started Keita, though. I suppose if Henderson isn't well it's more likely, but in that instance I'd got for Fab/ Wijnaldum/ Chamberlain anyway.

Let's face it, no matter where you sit on the Keita issue (I personally think he's being bedded in very slowly & actually told to 'play safe' more than hiding, but I know you & others disagree, & I fully understand why FWIW, but this isn't the thread to reopen that debate), the fact is he isn't offering enough defensively or offensively at the moment to pick him for games against the top sides.

I don't think Chamberlain is impressing much either TBH, but, crucially, he's finding the back of the net, so if we were forced into choosing either in a big game, Chamberlain would make more sense.

Either one would be a huge gamble though, & midfield is the one area we very very rarely see Klopp take those types of risks, so I think there's little chance of that happening unless injuries/illnesses force Klopp into it.

It's bout the only time my heart rate goes above 120bpm now so I need it !

Chamberlain isn't match fit either, he's said as much. What's up with Hendo? was he ill or something?
