Fuck me, that was the best footy I've seen in years & yet some of you slag off players who came on for less than 15 minutes at the end.

Fuck. Off.
My thoughts exactly. As I said in the other thread, we have the same amount of points now that we had after 9 games last season...

I'm very annoyed with Carroll. He looked slow and didn't put in a shift at all today. What gives? There were others more eager to get to the end of the ball in the box. He needs to be told to shape up.
He played 10 minutes, and nearly every cross were overhit.

Shame Suarez came off without a goal.
Great team performancecand really something to bulid on. Love it.
Precisely because he had a fresh pair of legs that he should be out there putting pressure on the defenders. The pace of our game doesn't seem to suit him at all at this moment. And his movement was a bit poor to be honest.

Stioo I'd love t see him and Suarez pair up. I don't think Suarez takes too kindly to under performing partners.

The football was great, especially the first twenty minutes or so and after the second and third goal. Believe me I'm in a celebratory mood, can't I just state what I see as a concern?

In any case, off to bed!

Huge improvement on this time last season no doubt about it and nobody is saying otherwise, every poster on here is pretty happy by my reckoning, but its fair to say that some people have seen enough of our performances with and without Carroll to know which they think is the way forward for the team based on our games so far this year and the tail end of last season. We played some great stuff today, midfield players supporting the forwards, forwards dropping deep to link up, interchanging passes and tearing the opposition to shreds. I want to see us play like that every week, within reason, and I dont think Carroll belongs in a team trying to play that way.

Kenny was right to bench him today he didnt deserve to be in the starting XI and based on todays performance he doesnt deserve to be there next week either. Of course he still has a part to play over the course of the season but right now he needs to get his attitude in order, there were two fantastic crosses into the 6 yard box from Downing and Enrique in the last 10 minutes when Carroll was on the field, he didnt gamble on either one or read the play and make an effort to follow up, right now he looks like a player who either doesnt give a shit or doesnt know better and Im not sure which is worse, either way he should be nowhere near the first XI and I applaud Kenny for having the balls to drop him.

Great game, great performance, great result, sloppy goal and Kellys injury the only negatives

I get what you are saying about Carroll but as long as we are getting results then I can't get too worked up about it really.

We have a squad of players, and it doesn't matter that much now what we paid for them. They are all players in the squad for the season. If we start losing games because we can't score goals then fingers probably will be pointed at Carroll and rightly so, but if we are winning then slagging off a player who is not even in the side is rather unnecessary to be honest

there's no need to get on carroll's back after this great exhibtion of pass and move. this is a long season and he is vital to our success especially away from home (I know ross doesn't agree but wait and see).

Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam scored their first goals for Liverpool as they went top of the Premier League with a deserved victory over Bolton.

Defender Martin Skrtel netted their other goal, a powerful close-range header from Adam's whipped corner.

Henderson opened the scoring by curling a left-footed strike into the top corner of the net, while Adam found the target with a low shot from 18 yards.

Bolton scored a consolation through Ivan Klasnic's close-range strike.

What a difference a year makes. In the corresponding fixture last season Liverpool were in the midst of a crisis. Roy Hodgson was in charge and the public voted with their feet as just 35,400 turned up - their lowest Premier League attendance for almost seven years and almost 10,000 below capacity.

Fernando Torres scored the winner in that game - his last goal for Liverpool at Anfield. Soon after, Hodgson and Torres left the club but Liverpool are now experiencing a mini-revolution under King Kenny.

Torres may have left, but in Luis Suarez the Kop have a new hero and with new signings Henderson, Stewart Downing and Adam all influential against Bolton, there is every reason to believe they have the nucleus of a side that is capable of firing them into the Champions League and beyond.

All three were superb against Bolton, as was Suarez, and victory was thoroughly deserved and superbly achieved with steel in defence, craft in midfield and menace in attack.

Bolton offered the occasional glimpse going forward, with Martin Petrov's volley palmed behind by Pepe Reina and Mark Davies' tame shot easily collected by the Spanish keeper.

But by and large the first half was one-way traffic, with Liverpool the dominant force.

Downing could have got Liverpool off to a flyer only for his control to let him down at the crucial point, but it was not long before the deadlock was broken and the former Middlesbrough winger was again involved.

Suarez sent over a fine cross from the left flank and Downing met it with a stunning volley that Jussi Jaaskelainen superbly kept out at full stretch.

But the pressure was relentless and the ball fell to Henderson, who at the second attempt found the top right-hand corner of the net from 12 yards with a fine left-footed curling strike.

Petrov then had Bolton's best chance of the half before Jaaskelainen prevented Suarez from getting on the scoresheet, while Dirk Kuyt was inches away from making it 2-0.

Suarez's movement was a constant menace to Bolton and the Uruguayan was found by Adam with a fine ball over the top which he latched onto with ease.

However, having done the hard bit in beating Bolton's offside trap, he casually dinked the ball over Jaaskelainen's crossbar from 18 yards when one on one with the keeper.

Davies then went on a surging run through the heart of Liverpool's midfield from his own half but his dragged shot from the edge of the area was straight at Reina.

Substitute Skrtel - on for Martin Kelly - doubled Liverpool's lead minutes after the break, powerfully heading in Adam's whipped corner from close range.

A minute later it was 3-0, with Adam joining Henderson in scoring his first goal for the club, beating Jaaskelainen from the edge of the area with a low right-footed shot that found the corner of the net.

Liverpool were then denied a penalty when Zat Knight tripped Suarez with his hands but with the game all but over, the intensity dropped considerably.

Klasnic saw his effort well blocked by Skrtel but Bolton did manage a late consolation.

And it was Klasnic who scored it, beating Reina from close range after Jamie Carragher's mistake let Petrov in.

Once the no-necks fucked off, things improved, somewhat.

Have a sneaky feeling Jon Fox was/is tipsy.
