Letting the kids/shadow squad run with this competition then by the sounds of it.

Good. Whilst no one wants to get beaten, the league points are paramount, & the more games & chances to impress those not in the first team usually get, the better.

What will be interesting will be Keita & Chamberlain's involvement, which is hard to predict for a number of reasons.

wow ....

ok so based on that

----------------------Super K ------------------------
William .... van den Berg .... Gomez ... Milner (C)

Lallana
Ox C Jones
Elliot Brewster Origi

I am a wee bit worried about starting van den BErg - he doesn't look ready but I guess we cannot risk an injury to Lovren (meh).

Arsenal fans are still clinging to their "Second Team Theory" in that while they do accept that Liverpool are a superior team, they do think that their second XI/ Stiffs/ Kids league cup/ europa Cup team is better than ours.

Which is sort of interesting

Arsenal will be without captain Granit Xhaka - a decision Unai Emery insists is part of a pre-planned rotation which includes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz and Calum Chambers all being handed a rest.
Mesut Ozil is set to earn a recall at Anfield having not featured in a matchday squad since the Gunners' third-round victory over Nottingham Forest.
Emiliano Martinez is likely to return in goal while Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Saed Kolasinac, Lucas Torreira, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are all expected to start.

There's no way Keita isn't starting - so swap Jones for Keita 😉

Looking at that, it does lend some credence to the Arse fans "2nd team theory" because you could argue that a few of those players should DEFFO be in the first team, while the likes of Luiz, Chambers and Xhaka should not.

By the same token, many of our fans are clamoring for the likes of Ox, Keita and Gomez to be getting more minutes too. I'd say the proportion of senior players to kids will be roughly the same for both teams – about 50/50. Hopefully playing at Anfield gives us an egde. I'm excited to see Neco Williams at RB; he looks quite promising. Let's hope Van der Berg performs better with more quality around him.

LOL if we see Ozil lining up against us. How the mighty have fallen. All I want is to see Elliot & Ox tear them apart and Gomez to have a stormer, earning a start against Villa (and then City)

Yeah, I'm with Brendan. Arsenal's second team looks a lot better than ours. Especially defensively if the likes of Van den Berg and co get a start. However, I hope the Anfield crowd will give the lads enough confidence to raise their game.

Ox-Keita-Ozil-Lallana as a combined second string midfield. Some million dollar babies out there!

Rumoured team:

Keheller
Williams Gomez VdB Milner
Oxlade Keita Lallana
Elliot Brewster Origi
Looking forward to seeing them play. I quite like that team. Strong in midfield and attack and hopefully Millie and Gomez can handhold VdB and Williams.

Wow, not a single senior outfield player among the subs. Never heard of Clarkson and Koumetio.

Once again, watch Neco Williams. He’s been training with the first team for a reason.

Arsenal leaning far heavier on senior players, particularly on the bench. Would be amazing if we win this tie with kids.

Massive risk not having anyone of note on the bench if it is not going to plan with 20/30 mins to play. Klopp really doesn’t give a flyin about this cup. We win we win, happy days.

To be fair I don’t give much of a fuck either. This is my order of preference

League
European Cup
World Club Cup
FA Cup
League Cup.

I'd actually put the FA Cup ahead of the World Cup, just cos when we win the League & the European cup it'd be nice to get that 'proper' treble boxed off. No reason we can't win all five though.

Why why not have any big guns on the bench, obviously he ain’t too fussed about this milk cup.

I think world club cup is higher because we are playing 2 games out there anyway so let’s at least win it.
