Liverpool v Manchester United - Official Match Thread 23rd September 2012

He got only the ball with the side of his foot and his studs were facing down in the ground, on what planet was that ever a red card. United getting an awful decision their way again, change the fucking record.

A strange half. We kept crossing even though we have three midgets in the area. Sterling showed some courage riding a few tackles but he needs to show it more generally and attack more. Shelvey looked worryingly nervy from the start. It wasn't a very bad tackle but it was unnecessary and rash, which is rapidly becoming a trademark of his. I'd like to see Assaidi on and Borini closer to Suarez. We can't afford to withdraw now even though we're a man down.

I thought it was just some of the writers I follow on twitter that were retarded, but apparently it's spilled over here too. That should never have been a fucking red card... hardly touched him, studs were actually down and got a piece of the ball. And you just knew it would happen after they were banging on about what a sensible referee Halsey was and how he was a great choice for the fixture. We have enough fucking problems as it is... we don't need some fucking cunt of a referee gifting them an advantage the rest of the fucking match. The repeated "fouls" on Kagawa were more than enough.

Lads he jumped in high and recklessly and caught Evans, it's a nailed on red and we can have no complaints imo.

It's Shelvey himself we should be angry at and don't give me that 'it's youthful ethusiasm' bullshit, Rodgers trusted him enough to start him in our biggest game of the season and he's fucked him, his team-mates and fans over, big style.

Gutted because we had them.

i think it was a yellow to be honest, having said that he probably deserved a yellow for his first tackle too

We've every right to be naffed off when the other fecker doesn't even get a yellow. One rule for the cnuts, another for the rest.

Everyone who's saying he had no right to make the tackle hasn't got a clue. It should have been a better challenge, but you've every right to go for a 50/50 in oppo half and you're trying to capitalize on pressure.

I don't know why Halsey, who is pretty much my favourite ref, seemed to rely on the assistant for his decision. Halsey was facing where the foot went, the assistant was in a hopeless position. I think a yellow for both or a red for both, but it was naive.

Bottled it, pure and simple. Mustn't upset Ferguson.

Shelvey needs to learn to can't make a challenge like that from the front, it can only turn out bad. If that challenge is from the side, worst outcome is a yellow. From the front, odds are against.

I am not defending Evans, by the way. He made a poor challenge too.

Nasty little creep of a fourth official eagerly jotting down Shelvey's attack of Ginsoak (a gesture that for me wins Jonjo complete redemption).

Jonjo went high though, it was reckless and dangerous. But yes, Evans should have got a yellow for jumping in like that.

Seen it 10 times in the studio now and its not a red card. Gutted.

Ray Wilkins in the studio being a mong.

Who should have gone? Shite decision

Also should have been yellow each, both reckless challenges.

Fact Evans was rolling round the foor, helped his cause.

So would we take a draw now?

STFU, it was silly but given the context of the game it was nowhere near as bad as you or anybody else is making out. The ref is a knob, end of.
