Liverpool v Leicester Match Thread

Neatly lost points again by a dodgy defence. Matip this time. What a nervy end for this game. But phew. Good 3 points. Salah to the rescue. Again.

Gini back in the middle with Can vs Burnley for me. I think one of the front 3 will get a rest with Coutinho further forward and Ox in the centre. I also wonder about VVD..

The ref was an idiot. He was even reluctant to stop the game when Klavan was flat out in the area. And he couldn't even manage a drop ball properly.

Leicester played pretty well and I thought we did well against them.

If Karius meant that long low pass it was the best bit from a keeper in ages.

Mane was again a disappointment.

Salah is just sublime.

Huge difference to last season - Mane was the only one making those tight and clever runs in behind crowded defences. He made a great one that was marginally offside. It is awesome to have two players doing that, and to have Coutinho & Firmino who are able to find them so often.

I'm up for Burnley now, they have looked a bit off their usual the past few games. Let's make a statement and hammer them.

Mane would have scored 2 if not for the offside flag. He made a goal out of nothing. He was involved but he was lacking some sharpness. It wasn't his best but it wasn't as bad as some made him out to be.

I don't know. 'He would have scored if he hadn't been offside' is in the 'if my uncle was a woman he'd be me auntie' category. He strayed offside. Twice. I just felt he was really lacking in alertness, effort and invention.

Also with the ref: when a team is blatantly wasting time as early as the first half, he should warn them and then book them if they persist. If he doesn't do that, they know they can keep doing it in the second half and only late on will risk a yellow card. This ref just stood around and watched them, the ineffectual fool. It's really becoming all too common these days for this tiresome tactic to go unpunished. It's the same as the stupid 'I won't penalise bad fouls in derby games for at least half an hour to let the game flow'. Be consistent.

Kasper was taking a good 20-30 seconds on his goal kicks each time, including that studs against the post routine, with both boots. Does he have OCD or something it's ridiculous it wasn't called out.

I also thought the backheel for the first goal was a very poor decision. Worked out, mind, but a low percentage play when there were better options on. Similar to the scissor kick a couple matches back that may have cost us two points.

Well done by ref not to add a few minutes for timewasting 😀

I thought he showed poor awareness to be caught offside there.

Have you ever seen anyone sent off for time wasting? I said to my dad at the match, he’ll book him ok about 89 mins so he doesn’t have to send him off. If refs got into it earlier and booked the fuckers then it wouldn’t a problem.

Anyway, best moment of the match was the drop ball to Can, and he fucking put it out by their goal line for a throw. They done that to us in the first half. Fuck you, fucking pricks.

Get in the reds x

Yeah I was pissed off with Swarbrick. He didnt even warn Schemical the whole game. What a delight it was when we went 2-1 up.
