Liverpool v Everton Match Thread

Fatty Reid - 'Everton improved once Rooney went off. That's no disrespect to Wayne' ... yes it fucking is hahaha

Gomez and Solanke are fucking dire btw.
Athlete's don't make footballers.
You need a football brain too
Nah. They're young players. And young players need help in their decision making. I think he'll be a top CB in a few years. At FB, for now, he's getting good (and bad) experience.

Gomez was magnificent for 45mins. He was absolutely woeful in the 2nd half. But it wasn't helped with lack of movement ahead of him.

Solanke, the jury is still out on him.

Trying to attribute that goal to VVD is utterly ridiculous, no tinfoil hat. Can you explain to me what you'd actually expect him to do in that situation, other than get back into position as quick as possible, which is exactly what he did.

Obviously wasnt his fault. Was a free kick for the foul on Matip as well

ox was bollox

what a start for VVD, Robertson is sound as a pound, can played like someone who just signed for another side, firmino's face could be on a milk carton and Karius is just a bag of nerves.

oh and Gomez is gonna be hella footballer

but more importantly fuck fat Sam the doorman looking motherfucker with stupid ear pierce and likewise keown or whatever blue nose was on commentary duty tonight

Gomez is a superstar in the making.
And how on earth that goal was Virgils fault I never know.

Great win. Great debut. Great night.

Odd game for you to comment on Gomez's future superstar status. He was subbed because he was shit and made mistake after mistake.

He was a liability

Are derbies ever pretty!?! This was a good battling win.

The quality was lacking which is a big worry with Phil going.

As for their goal. First of all, you have to give them credit for how they worked it.

But the mistake was clearly Can not running back hard enough. Siggursson (not the quickest) out ran him and had more desire.

I'm not getting the Gomez is shit thing. He has the occasional lapse in concentration but he's clearly very talented.

Karius on the other hand is perhaps one of the most cowardly players I've ever seen on a football pitch. The guy seems to have no self-belief. Can we please buy a fucking keeper in the summer?

Van Dijk v Everton:

5 Aerial Duels won (more than anyone)
79 Touches (Second most on the pitch)
2 Shots on target (More than anyone)
1 Goal.
2 Interceptions (Most for Liverpool)
62 Passes (More than anyone on the field)
4 Long Passes (More than anyone for Liverpool).

Jagielka out ran the entire team bar Milner.

I'd also point out that Gomez was the ONLY player (GK included) to play the full 90 against Leicester, and the full 90 against Burnley.. and was set to play another 90 today..

So it's no surprise, as he tired (and as they brought on a fresh Lookman), he began making mistakes.

I disagree that Ox was bollox....

Can couldn’t tonight however...

A good win IMO... a delightful win in fact....

Gomez was great in the first half, sharp and first to everything, but he was dire in the second half. Loads of potential, he'll be a good player for us, but he has about to learn.

Robertson is fucking ace.

I could almost forgive Karius if he'd dived to the opposite side as it looked like Gudjohnsen had give him the eyes but he didn't commit there either so decided to just stand on the spot. Good finish by the Everton player but Sunday league stuff from Karius.

He is a talent but he makes simple mistakes thinking his athleticism could get him out of trouble. The ref could have given them alot more for his tugging and aggression after losing possession cheaply.

And he is rubbish in the air he just can't seem to judge a high ball. He lost Calvert Lewin and was behind him when he was goalside, it could have been costly.

Anyhow talent could only bring you so far, he needs to cut out these brain fart moments, just ask Lovren.

Karius was shit but there was nothing he could have done for the goal. Sigurdsson could have gone right or left, Karius wouldn't know. It was a very good finish, low and hard.

Yeah I wouldn't blame him for the goal, but he's such a none entity as a keeper, you may aswell chuck your mate in net and hope for the best. I saw better goalkeeping from Staunton and Enrique.

Erm, I'd say it's a goal that decent keepers concede without moving, but great keepers make an attempt for. They take cues off the defenders body positioning (and the body shape of the attacker as they strike the ball) and are able to judge where the shot is likely to go.

Robertson had blocked off the right side of the goal with his body, and so Karius only had to take care of the left side, instead he guessed, and was left in no man's land.

I can't say it's his fault, but I think a better GK would have at least made an attempt to dive there.
