Liverpool v Chelsea Match Thread

Really good battle this, both teams would be happy with their showing. I'd like to see us turn it up a gear now.

I could imagine Klopp wants to ensure we're not losing with 30 mins left and he'll unleash 1 or 2 of Firmino, Mane or Lallana

Is Salah already as good as Mane?

We are absolutely spoiled for marvelous wingers right now. Two World Class ones even.

Course it would have been soft, but was it a foul? Yes.

Was it inside the box? Yes.

That's a penalty then.

Still, nil nil is a fair result. We've played pretty well, but I'd be happier if I was a Chelsea fan right now, they look a lot more dangerous in attack than we do, & a bit more solid at the back.

Optimistically though, there's not a huge amount in it, & if we can keep it like this before bringing Mane on that could tip in our favour.

Weird commentary on BT, they're chattering away while the action goes on as if it's some really dull game that they can't concentrate on.

I thought we did okay in that half. I'm not too surprised that Mane didn't start - he was dire in the second half against Sevilla and he's probably still recovering from that injury, plus there's not really that much space for him to run into. If he's okay to come on and exploit some tiredness later on he could still have an impact. And if there's one person who can pull that back three around a bit it's Lallana.

Salah has been fantastic - they are petrified of giving away a pen when he runs at them so he's just allowed in. Showing great strength as well to hold off defenders.

The midfield however, awful. Now you're seeing why Can has been getting games despite the contract situation.

We desperately need Coutinho on the ball more. They're man marking him and have are packed with defensive players in the middle anyways. I'd be tempted to stick him out on the left... because Henderson and Milner aren't helping him out too much.

I think Chelsea is just edging this at the moment. They sitting deep with 3 CMs, but Conte clearly has a plan how to catch us on the counter, especially using Drinkwater’s unexpected forays forward.

For us, Ox is playing well, but he is not Mane. Milner is useless in attack. Studge is trying his best, made a few cute plays but without that burst of acceleration he has trouble shaking off Kante. I want to see Mane come on as early as possible and maybe Lallana as well.
