So, it is the league cup next. The fact that it is Chelsea gives it a touch of spice. I'd actually like to win it– well, why the fuck not? First trophy handed out and obviously gets Klopp's nasty monkey off all of our backs. However, I don't want to risk league or CL form for this tin pot.

Anyhoo, what's our team, and what does their second string look like?

I hope it's ten people I've never heard of and Mongolet

I get this, but there is a recent pattern of teams winning the league cup and going on to win the league. Man City last year and the year they pipped us. Chelsea did it in 2015. Trophy in the back pocket, then it's all about swagging your way on to the major comps.

I would rather we didn't show our hand of tire key players before the proper fixture at the weekend. I don't give a shit about this cup and don't think that cause correlation thing stacks up.
Agreed.

As much stick as neville got for saying we need to prioritise the league, we do.

We can almost certainly play our best side in the league & the CL with few changes here & there, but if you include a run in the league Cup & fa cup we'll quickly get stretched thin.

I don't want to see us knocked out, but equally I don't want to risk our first teamers.

Play the b side, if we get through, great, more games to play the squad players is a good thing to keep them fresh & ready, if we don't, then fuck it.

I'm somewhere in the middle, half the first team, half squaddies, I'd like to see Matip, Clyne, Fabinho, Shaqiri and Sturridge all starting, maybe even Mignolet and Moreno.

Allison
Clyne
Matip
Phillips
Lewis
Keita
Fabinho
Jones
Sturridge
Solanke
Shaqiri

Decent side with a lot of first teamers in need of game time

I'd play:

Becker

Clyne
Matip
Gomez
Moreno

Fabinho
Milner
Keita

Shaq
Mane/Salah
Sturridge

I would go with

Mignolet
Clyne
Matip
Loveren (back in full training and needs minutes)
Moreno
Fabinho
Keita
Lallana if availability else Milner
Origi
Sturridge
Solanki

Neither Lovren nor Lallana are ready to start and Origi is injured as well.

It would help if we knew what players are likely to play for Chelski. Presumably they will rotate quite a few, but I don't know who'll they'll bring in.

Brewster?! Hasn't he still got like another 6 months before he's fit enough to train?

Lovren Is injured still along with Lallana, Origi, Brewster and Ox

[article]
Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Dejan Lovren is ‘close’ being back in contention for Liverpool after resuming full training at Melwood this week.
