The game started well enough, but got progressively more frustrating. Firmino has been uncharacteristically sloppy, I thought Lovren managed to make 2 or 3 clear mistakes even with Cardiff barely crossing the half-way line with the ball – thank God for Van Dijk, Gini and Fabinho intervening decisively every time before the situation could become really dangerous. Lallana is probably the biggest culprit for our attacking game becoming slow and predictable – his deliberative style is such a contrast to the quick patterns of the front 3 that the more he gets involved, the less those patterns work. By the end of the half players almost stopped making attacking runs for each other because they are not sure who is going to do what. Yes, we are winning and outshooting Cardiff something like 12 to 0, but we can play so much better than this.
