Can someone tell me if we are going to be in Europa, if United wins the final?

Seems like everyone is conveniently forgetting this....this has been staring at us for last two months and we have decided to sweep it under the carpet.

For the last fucking time - we are 100% in CL even if united win Europa Cup by 6000 goals or more !!!! Goodnite and relax.

I think Ajax takes United's place and we have to play off against Ajax for a group place. United goes into the qualifiers as losing finalists and still have a backdoor chance to qualify via the 3 rounds of knockouts.

Something like that. Or not. Maybe.

So you're saying there's a chance.

Thoughts from yesterday

Mign - Again, solid in his own area. Granted, boro offered very little but he's really come a long way. He's been a really good keeper the last 2-3 months.

Clyne - Adds so little going forward that you know good moves on his side will break down with him. Solid defensively.

Lovren - I thought he was bloody lucky on that penalty call.

Matip - solid performance as usual.

Milner - I thought his crossing today was better than its been for ages - I wonder how much he plays next year in CM.

Can - Another good performance in the middle - physical, tenacious ... a presence.

Gini - 44 minutes of invisibility and then PRESTO! What an important goal but it would be nice if he imposed himself more on games - the talent is there.

Coutinho - If he hadn't got injured and took 1.5 months to find his form, he may have scored closer to 20 goals ... So good from outside the box - I think most goals from outside the box since he arrived in the premier league.

Lallana - not his usual self but a goal and the usual. Good season from him.

Firmino - Tricky and 100% effort as usual. Key for the 1st goal, and at times, too generous on the ball (i.e. the pass to Gini).

Studge - bar winning a free kick, all I can remember are some feeble attempts on goal. I hope he takes a paycut and stays on as an option ... his days of starting more than 1 game every 7-10 games is over.

Great result when needed and a good response to the other results just before half time again.

We started well. 86-14 on the ball early tells a story. We also created a few good chances but inaccurate finishing cost is in that periode. It is a good habit to score when you have momentum and our lack of goals in the first 20 could have been brutal punished if that Lovren free kick had been given and ref har sent him off. We were lucky there. Maybe the ref were to focused to see if feets touched feet to notice those arms? Don't know.

We lost a bit of pace after that so it was very good to see powerful interaction were players believed in each other enough to set up that 1st goal. It is not an easy flick and it need to be hard and dead accurate. Gini did the rest!!

Second half was just about catching the needed goaldifference if City har slipped, which they of course didn't. But we delivered out part and we really can't ask for more!

When you see how Coutinho played until the injury, and then once he got his form back, you realize how things would have been different had he been an ever-present.

It's not just coutinho either. We've had injuries to absolutely key players through the season and have missed our captain for most of it.
I'd love to sign a new medical team. Just for some competition for the main medical team.

Milner - I thought his crossing today was better than its been for ages - I wonder how much he plays next year in CM.

I hope he doesn't. I think his ability at CM for us is rather exaggerated; he just seems to lack some sort of dynamism - that game at Stoke down this final stretch of the season sort of showed some of it. He doesn't have that dash in the first few yards or the turning quickness to get out and quickly press and close out an opponent in the open field (versus on the side where he has the line as his aid). I think we already have better options there in Henderson (if fit), Wijnaldum, Lallana, Can, etc. and I think Milner being switched to LB has as much to do with Moreno's shitness as with Klopp's assessment of how to best use Milner in this team.

Lately, I've been thinking that Milner might be a better option for us at RB in games against the sides that sit deep. His effectiveness on the left is diminished by his need to cut back to his right foot and/or use his weaker left, and our attacking momentum often takes a hit when he does that - about as much as it does when a ball gets played to Clyne and he gets into the final third and turns poo. On the right though, with his ability to put in a better and earlier cross, Milner would have the edge over Clyne. With Mane seeing the ball often, Milner should still get the space, touches and involvement (as he does when Coutinho plays ahead of him at LW), while the momentum of our attacks won't need to slow down too. Against the stronger teams, I'd want Clyne back in at RB because he has the motor to go up and down and keep up with pacy wide forwards better than Milner, but against the deep-sitting teams, I think Milner can offer a greater threat for us.

Of course, Trent is another option there at RB. I'm unsure if he'll eventually be a RB or a CM for us instead (he played both positions for the U18s and U23s) - there was a league game when he came on as a sub at RB or RB, and ended up drifting into the middle quite a bit and looked really good there. The defensive side of his game is still pretty unpolished, but on the attacking side, his pace and quality with the ball in the final third is quite exciting.

Half way down, I've suggested Milner at right (wing) back for fucking years!

I am happy with Milner at LB. Compare him with Moreno. Moreno stages exciting runs upfield, but when we lose the ball and the opposition counter-attack, there is a gaping hole where the LB should be. That never happens with Milner. He reads the game very well.

Bit nervy before getting the goal but what a time to score it. Opened the floodgates a bit going into 2nd half...could have bagged 1 or 2 more but overall buzzing with the win and clinching 4th. Now for some serious transfers over the summer and look forward to next season. Up the Reds.

The problem is, I think it's no secret that Milner isn't happy playing at LB.
