Liverpool v Arsenal - Match Thread

Would like to see a bit of creativity in movement or a one two through midfield but both teams are focused on keeping their shape and minimizing risk given the threat the other poses in space, and we're getting much the better of it.

I'd hope Thiago can take that bit of risk without it being one.

We are so much better than arsenal, having the game on a knife edge is uncomfortable but the difference in ability is startling

Watch Robertson's goal again then. He was the one who provided the outlet deep on the right giving space for Trent to cross.

Ok. Will do. After I watched him losing possession for at least 5 times and strolling around right after again.

Firmino has been involved in a couple of the decisive moments today so that's an improvement. I'm still waiting for him to properly come to life though. At his best he's leading the press, popping up all over the place and linking play. These days he seems to be missing a little too often. Hopefully pressure from Minamino and Jota will spark some kind of reaction from him.

Wijnaldum though... I think that shot almost annoyed me as much as the stupid goal we conceded. At this point I'm starting to think he does it on purpose.

The progress of the half proved my point, in spite of wum whining. Up until they scored, we played like the Arsenal video analysts must have predicted we'd play - too slow and too predictable. Yes we had plenty of the ball but we didn't do enough with it. Once we scored we upped the pace, dared to be more inventive and it paid off well. Christ knows why anyone would think the former was the same as the latter.

Arsenal look over-coached to me, right down to that three defenders in the box routine at goal kicks, which looks like something you'd do to impress the coaching badge panel. They're still waiting for the play to break down and then bomb off on the counter attack, like the horrible bastard child of Wenger and George Graham they've become, so we need to keep pressing them and show the same wit and invention that got us back into the game.

so we need to keep pressing them and show the same wit and invention that got us back into the game.

And avoid passing it straight to their players on the halfway line as TAA (and Firmino I think) has done on a couple occasions. Suicidal stuff.

We are clearly the superior side but we've been undone before by stupid mistakes. Gotta keep the concentration levels up.

That was an awesome performance. But for robbos error they didn't get a kick.

We've rightly been very patient, but have regularly got through the lines and looked dangerous every time.

Pressing is back to uts brilliant best and fir me they've looked massively up for it from kick 1.

The side which cantered at the end of last year is long gone.

COME ON BOYS let's twat them again second half, no slowing down.
